Today, Speaker Paul Ryan announced he would not seek re-election in November. Here are some things to keep in mind:
- Speaker Ryan was in an extremely strong position to be re-elected.
- Democrats are in the middle of an increasingly nasty primary, and recent headlines have exposed just how flawed and unserious their “leading” candidate is.
- WI-01 is a Republican district: Paul Ryan defeated his opponent by more than 30 points in 2016 and President Trump secured a double-digit victory over Hillary Clinton.
