liar or tax cheat?

April 16, 2018

Andy Kim, call your office.

Kim is facing increasing scrutiny for claiming a special property tax break on his nearly $1 million Washington, D.C. condo AFTER launching his campaign and voting in New Jersey.

Here’s the timeline:

  • May 10, 2017: Andy Kim registers to vote in New Jersey
  • June 6, 2017: Kim votes in the New Jersey Democratic primary
  • June 19, 2017: Kim announces his campaign for NJ-03
  • September 15, 2017: Kim pays the tax bill on his $826,000 Washington condo, claiming a $72,450 homestead tax credit for people whose principal place of residence is Washington, D.C.
  • March 31, 2018: Kim is late paying the first half of his 2018 property tax bill, which still reflects a $623.48 tax break from a $73,350 homestead deduction
  • April 6, 2018: Kim’s campaign tells a local reporter the special tax break was an “oversight”

Andy Kim either lied to get himself a special tax break, or he lied about his New Jersey residence to vote in the primary. Either way, Andy Kim launched his campaign by attempting to deceive the people of South Jersey.
