NRCC’s Jesse Hunt: CA Gas Tax Is A Strong Motivator For GOP Voters Tired Of Being Taxed By Dems
WASHINGTON – NRCC National Press Secretary Jesse Hunt today joined CBS News’ Vlad Duthiers to explain why California’s unpopular gas tax will motivate Republican voters in the fall.
NRCC PRESS SECRETARY JESSE HUNT: Well, obviously, our candidates are focused on running effective campaigns – being well-funded, communicating a message – but I think right now in California specifically, we’re seeing a gas tax issue pop up. Last night, there was a recall election in Orange County, where a state senator who voted for the gas tax was voted out and recalled because Republican voters turned out in droves. This is an issue that’s going to be on the ballot in the fall and we feel like it’s going to be a very strong motivator for Republican voters who are tired of being taxed by the Democrats in California.
