Once upon a time, Harley Rouda said: “it has been one of my greatest honors to campaign along side” Laura Oatman, the CA-48 Democrat who dropped out of the race and endorsed Rouda’s bid.
This weekend, the two of them had the chance to do just that – with Oatman appearing with Rouda at his campaign’s rally…
…and calling for civil war: “This is Civil War 2, guys!”
It’s not as if Oatman is the first Democrat to invoke images of violence and doom for political purposes this cycle, either:
- Maxine Waters threatened to “go and take Trump out tonight”
- Nancy Pelosi called tax reform “Armageddon”
- Tom Perez claimed “people will die” as a result of the GOP’s healthcare reform efforts
- Jerry Brown threatened “people are going to die” if the Trump Administration left the Paris climate accord
“Laura Oatman’s call to arms at a Harley Rouda campaign event is the kind of dangerous and irresponsible language we’ve come to expect from today’s Democratic Party. Silence is not an option – Harley Rouda should disavow Oatman’s comments immediately.” -NRCC Spokesman Jack Pandol
