Is John Boehner’s Speakership in Jeopardy?

January 24, 2019

It’s painfully obvious that rational House Democrats want to make a deal to reopen the government, but Nancy Pelosi still refuses to come to the table to negotiate. Is this because the left flank of her conference won’t let her?

Keep in mind that Pelosi received only 220 votes for Speaker. And if Speaker John Boehner had a Tea Party problem* then what do you call Nancy Pelosi’s problem?  It’s the Tea Party on steroids.

Just read this excerpt:

And that could put Pelosi’s grasp on the speakership in jeopardy if the unwieldy group of radical liberals she’s overseen for the past two and a half weeks finds their leader guilty of violating the party’s principles or making a misstep in the budget negotiations. A revolt among her members would be seen as a sign of weakness and could result in her ouster.

Sound familiar?  It’s a slightly tweaked NBC News Story from November 2, 2015:

And that could put Boehner’s grasp on the speakership in jeopardy if the unwieldy group of Tea Party conservatives he’s overseen for the past two and a half years finds their leader guilty of violating the party’s principles or making a misstep in the budget negotiations. A revolt among his members would be seen as a sign of weakness and could result in his ouster.
