another Ashford?

February 4, 2019

Over the weekend, Ann Ashford announced she would seek the Democratic nomination in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District, setting up another messy primary for Omaha Dems.

Ashford will face failed 2018 nominee (and darling of the radical liberal base) Kara Eastman, who defeated Ashford’s husband, former Congressman Brad Ashford, in a contentious primary where she ran as a Bernie Democrat. While the Democratic base would probably prefer the Ashfords just go away, it’s clear they are not ready to give up their quest to be Nebraska’s version of the Clintons.

NRCC Comment: “Nebraska voters have rejected the Ashfords two elections in a row, but that isn’t stopping their desperate quest for a seat in Congress. Whether Democrat primary voters choose retread radical liberal candidate Kara Eastman or retread establishment candidate Ann Ashford, they will be left with a weak nominee who is wildly out-of-step with Nebraskans.” – NRCC Spokesman Bob Salera
