NRCC Weekly Rundown: Socialist Dems give green light to legal prostitution

June 14, 2019

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC weekly rundown:

(National) This week socialist Democrats Cheri “Beltway” Bustos, Charlie Crist, Ann Kirkpatrick and Matt Cartwright threw law and order out the window after voting to allow prostitution to become legal in Washington, D.C. Seriously. These Democrats have become so warped by the crazies in their party that they are now supporting PROSTITUTION to appease their socialist base. Can the socialist Democrats get any swampier or frankly, disgusting?

(National) Socialist lunatic Bernie Sanders went on a media blitz this week telling CNN that “people in this country would be delighted to pay more in taxes” to fund his radical government-run healthcare plan. Unfortunately for Sanders, the majority of Americans don’t agree, with only 10 percent of voters saying they have a positive view of socialism. Sanders is clearly delusional, and the socialist Democrats will suffer because of it in 2020.

(National) A new op-ed in Politico detailed how Beltway Bustos’DCCC is continuing their efforts to sideline female consultants and disadvantage women and minority candidates from running for Congress. This is just the latest salvo in the left’s ongoing civil war that has seen Bustos decimated by the upstart socialists who are running her party’s caucus. Click HERE to view our non-exhaustive list of the internal headaches and chaos Bustos’ incompetence has created over the past five and half months.

(California) California billionaire Tom Steyer continues to put pressure on Democrats to impeach President Trump. Has Steyer spoken with Josh Harder, Katie Hill, Gil Cisneros, Katie Porter, Harley Rouda or Mike Levin? Has Steyerurged them to support impeachment? After all, Steyer is a huge donor to these SoCal socialists

(CO-03) Socialist Democrat Diane Mitsch Bush’s campaign is not off to a great start, as she’s already been forced to write an op-ed denying that she’s a socialist. Mitsch Bush’s bizarre column attempts to prove she isn’t a socialist by citing Harry Truman, then goes on to ask whether it’s socialist to repeatedly attempt to raise taxes on Coloradans (it is). But she failed to address her support for socialist policies like single-payer health care that would ban private health insurance and the socialist Green New Deal. Better luck next time, Diane!

(GA-06)Lucy McBath (D-Tennessee) is once again showing Georgians she’s a serial liar who can’t keep her stories straight. At her townhall last weekend she told her constituents, “I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.” But just last week in D.C., she called for a “gun-free society.” Kind of like how Lucy said she was a Georgia resident but actually lives in Tennessee. Check out this video to see Lucy lying in action.

(IA-03) Oops! Cindy Axne tried cozying up to President Trump for a photo op this week, but as it turns out, Axne conjured the whole thing up. The White House quickly rebutted Axne’s claim that she was invited to join the President on a tour of an Iowa renewable energy facility, stating she was never invited in the first place. Maybe that’s because for the first five months of her term Axne has not voted with Trump, setting her to the left of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other self-avowed socialists.

(IL-06) SocialistSean Casten thinks “bipartisanship is overrated,” which is extremely troubling given the district he represents is pretty bipartisan. But, it does explain why he votes with the socialist Democrats 99% of the time! With each passing day Casten shows his constituents that he’s just another partisan socialist hack who doesn’t represent their values.

(IL-14) Fake Nurse Lauren Underwood had a busy week promoting herself in Bon Appetit magazine – so much so that she ignored several calls from a local NPR station asking for her stance on Illinois’ new law allowing partial-birth abortions. This isn’t the first time Fake Nurse Lauren has dodged her constituents who want to know where she stands on the socialist Democrats’ abortion extremism. Maybe when she’s done gabbing with lifestyle magazines she can give WBEZ a call?

(IL-17) Beltway Bustos is getting pretty good at lying. Last weekend, Bustos made her way out of the swamp and proudly touted that the socialists are the “party that gets things done.” But aside from frothing at the mouth over a desire to impeach President Trump, the socialist Democrats have accomplished NOTHING. They can’t even work together long enough to propose a budget! There’s no excuse for lying, but to be fair, Bustos has been busy blacklisting primary challengers, supporting partial-birth abortions, defending a rabid anti-Semite, deterring a primary challenger, and hiding from Illinois press!

(ME-02) Maine is experiencing an influx of asylum seekers as the crisis on our southern border continues to worsen, but instead of taking action, Jared Golden and the socialist Democrats have refused to back border security funding. Golden’s weak record on immigration echoes what he did in Maine’s state house where he was a rubber stamp for the left’s radical initiatives. Golden’sgarbage record on immigration has repeatedly put Maine residents at risk and voters deserve better.

(MI-08) On the campaign trail, Elissa Slotkinstated a town hall “means inviting the public — anyone who wants to come — to a big event where they can ask questions, where they can engage with the person that they elected to represent them.” She also (correctly) pointed out that “constituents should be able to ask questions of their representatives.” However, now that she’s in office, Slotkin is either directing her staff to screen questions, or avoiding them completely. Slotkin’s blatant hypocrisy is no surprise given her impressive ability to break the promises she made to made to Michiganders.

(MN-07) The Star Tribune put cranky Collin Petersonon blast after he failed to join the rest of the Minnesota delegation in unifying around disaster relief for Minnesotans. Even after the NRCC called him out two weeks ago, cranky Collin has yet to explain why he doesn’t care about his constituents suffering from the disastrous effects of flooding. It’s a sad day for Peterson’s constituents given he will gladly defend an anti-Semite and provide amnesty for illegal gang members, but is too cranky to provide disaster relief for their families and communities.

(NJ-07) Tom Malinowski went on MSNBC to tout his baseless efforts to impeach President Trump. Malinowski claimed, “we need to start the impeachment process for a hundred reasons,” despite the OSC’s inability to find collusion or obstruction involving President Trump. The socialist Democrats impeachment crusade is a perfect example that they don’t give a damn about the facts and will do whatever it takes to destroy President Trump.

(NY-11) Max Rose continues to support Ilhan Omar and her role on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, even as she and her allies attack fellow Jewish New York Congressman Lee Zeldin. Prominent socialist Linda Sarsour joined Omar in attacking Zeldin over his role in the newly formed Black-Jewish Caucus (falsely labeling him a bigot) and we’ve only heard crickets from Rose. I guess he’s too focused on removing vandalized mailboxes

(NY-24) New York’s Democrat-run State Assembly passed legislation yesterday that would grant illegal immigrants the right to obtain a driver’s license.  As Dana Balter, Francis Conole and Roger Misso race to the left to see who’s the most radical in their Democratic primary, New Yorkers deserve to know: Are these loony socialists okay with illegal immigrants driving down I-81?

(NC-09) China Dan McCready continues to stand byMecklenburg SheriffGarry McFadden who has declined to work with ICE and has allowed dangerous illegal immigrants to go free. McCready’s support for this open borders extremist isn’t surprising given he opposes building a border wall and has repeatedly dodged questions about illegal immigration. China Dan doesn’t like to talk about any issues, especially his business practices, impeachment, the free press, or North Carolinians!

(OK-05) Accidental Congresswoman Kenda Horn has clearly forgotten which state she represents in Congress, as she seemingly endorsed taxpayer-funded abortions this week. She even went so far as to vote down legislation that would protect health care providers from being forced to perform abortions. Despite not having read the socialist Democrat’s proposal to repeal the federal ban on abortion funding, Horn told The Oklahoman, “I think we’ve got to ensure that access to services are still available for individuals that need them and that we’re following science and evidence-based care.” Looks like Horn is following suit on the socialist Democrats’ new cause of the day…

(OR-04) Get ready for the socialist showdown in OR-04 now that Peter DeFazio has a primary challenger ready to run him out of office. With Republicans ready to win Oregon for President Trump, and facing severe opposition within his own party, Peter D. sure has his work cut out for him this election cycle!

(PA-08) After cosponsoring the socialist takeover of our health care system, it should come as no surprise that Matt Cartwright is a partisan sellout who’s beholden to the radicals running his party. New data from Roll Call revealed that Cartwright has voted with the Democratic Party 99.3% of the time, despite representing a district President Trump won by 10 points. 2020 should be interesting given Cartwright backs the socialist Democrats more than his own constituents…

(TX-10) According to a new report from the Oakland Post, socialist loser and Bay Area native Mike Siegel is heading home this weekend to raise money for his doomed campaign. Siegel will make an appearance with fellow socialist Rep. Barbara Lee, who is taking a break from pushing the oil-and-gas-killing Green New Deal to campaign for Siegel, alongside Operation Dumbo Drop actor Danny Glover. With Siegel’sstatement on his CA fundraiser that details his least popular policy positions like socialized medicine, legalizing drugs, raising taxes and the Green New Deal, Republicans’ job in 2020 should be fairly easy!

News & Notes

GOP Turns Illinois Abortion-Rights Bill Into ‘Weapon’ In Bid To Retake U.S. House

An abortion rights package championed by Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is causing political ripples nationally as anti-abortion Republicans showcase it in dozens of congressional districts that are expected to determine control of the U.S. House next year.

Since the Illinois Senate gave final legislative approval to legislation at the end of May, the National Republican Congressional Committee has cited that vote in a bid to unseat 39 congressional House Democrats from Florida to Pennsylvania to New Mexico.

The national party is describing the Illinois legislation as the handiwork of the “socialist Democrat death cult,” focusing particularly on the bill’s repeal of a dormant statutory ban on a late-term abortion procedure critics call “partial birth abortions.”

The bill, which Pritzker is scheduled to sign Wednesday, also establishes a “fundamental” right to abortion, requires health insurers to cover abortions, strips husbands of a legal ability to block their wife’s abortion and safeguards physicians from licensure sanctions or criminal penalties if they perform abortions.

“This is a big one. It’s interesting that the governor in Illinois — and sad, by the way — would sign a measure like this,” said U.S. Rep. Tom Emmer, R-Minn., who chairs the NRCC and heads the GOP’s 2020 effort to retake the House.

In Illinois, the U.S. House GOP’s political arm has targeted freshman U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood, D-Ill., who last fall upset long-serving former GOP Rep. Randy Hultgren in her far west and northwest suburban congressional district. Also on the party’s hit list is U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos, D-Ill., who is Emmer’s political counterpart as head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

Underwood and Bustos are among 55 House Democrats who are being targeted by Republicans. They’re also among 31 who won election last fall in congressional districts that President Trump won.

“I would ask them all quite frankly, Cheri Bustos, where they stand on these issues,” Emmer said, specifically referring to abortion. “Because we’re going to.”

Neither Underwood nor Bustos responded to multiple WBEZ requests for comment. READ.

Congressional Republicans target efforts to decriminalize sex work in the District

Republicans in Congress have tried to overturn D.C. laws that have legalized medical marijuana, needle exchanges and assisted suicide in the capital city.

This week, they tried but failed to stop a bill to decriminalize sex work before the D.C. Council has even voted on the legislation.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) on Tuesday unsuccessfully attempted to insert language in the federal budget that would prohibit the city from spending local funds on enacting such a law.

“If this law passes, prostitution and all the things associated with it are decriminalized literally outside the doors of this building,” said Harris during a Tuesday House appropriations hearing.

“We don’t want this to be the red light capital of the United States. We want people coming here not for sex tourism, but to come see the seat of government.”

With Democrats in control of the House, Harris has a tougher time restricting District’s liberal policies. His amendment was promptly defeated on a 21-27 vote with all but one Democrat – Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas – voting against it. READ.

Swing district Democrats Angie Craig and Dean Phillips wary of impeachment

Minnesota’s two new Democratic House members from suburban swing districts, U.S. Reps. Angie Craig and Dean Phillips, have not decided if President Donald Trump deserves to be impeached, a question that has racked their party in the aftermath of the special counsel report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

As some of the Democratic Party’s loudest voices press for impeachment proceedings, the stakes are growing for lawmakers like Phillips and Craig, who flipped districts now critical to the Democrats’ chances of holding the U.S. House.

With 2020 approaching, many Democratic leaders have urged caution, arguing that impeachment would not only be futile with a Republican-led Senate, but also be self-defeating. In Minnesota, both the merits and the politics of impeachment have forced a go-slow approach for two of the state’s most vulnerable Democrats. READ.

Rep. Peter DeFazio To Face Challenger In 2020 Primary

U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.)— whose congressional district covers the southern coast and includes the cities of Eugene, Coos Bay, Springfield, and Roseburg—could face a new challenger in the next primary election.

That’s unusual for the 16-term incumbent, now chairman of the powerful House Transportation and Infrastructure committee. But like other established Democrats across the nation, he’s now seeing a challenge from the left. In his case, it comes via Doyle Canning, a longtime activist now studying law at the University of Oregon.

Recognition of Canning’s candidacy came from a surprising place Thursday morning: the National Republican Congressional Committee.

“Something Doyle and the NRCC agree on is that OR-04’s constituents deserve fresh, new leadership!” their June 13 press release read. “Republicans are also considering investing in Oregon. Bad news all around for Peter D!”

Exclusive: Trump campaign considering putting resources in Oregon

The Trump campaign is considering putting resources into Oregon, CNN has learned, a state where Hillary Clinton beat the President by 11 percentage points in 2016.

In fact, Oregon is so blue that it has not voted for a Republican for president since 1984. But the Trump campaign is flush with cash and is looking for ways to spend its money and time wisely while Democrats duke it out for the chance to run against President Donald Trump.

CNN obtained a memo to the Trump campaign from pollster Tony Fabrizio about ideas for “expanding the map” to give the President more options for getting the 270 electoral votes needed to win the re-election, where he mentions looking at Oregon.

In the memo, Fabrizio maintains that New Hampshire, New Mexico and Nevada — all states that Trump lost in 2016 — are now “highly competitive.” Those are three states where the Trump campaign already has resources on the ground.

Same goes for Minnesota, another state where Clinton beat Trump in 2016, but Fabrizio says to “keep an eye on” this cycle. READ.
