NRCC Weekly Rundown: Chairman Emmer sounds the alarm on socialism
And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:
(National) NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer sounded the alarm in an op-ed about the dangers awaiting Republicans if they fail to adequately explain why Americans should not like socialist policies like Medicare for All and the Green New Deal. “It truly is incredible that these two proposals, which will be an economic nightmare for middle-class Americans and are a direct threat to our individual freedoms, are the cornerstone of an increasingly socialist Democratic Party. But unless we make it clear to voters why these policies are a bad deal for them, we are at risk of losing even more Republican seats in 2020.”
(National) This week socialist darling AOC continued House Democrats’ hysterical rhetoric by comparing ICE holding centers on our southern border to concentration camps during the Holocaust. Beyond AOC’s statement being demonstrably false, her claim is all the more egregious because she and the socialist Democrats have repeatedly refused to address the immigration crisis. However, her comments did reinforce the socialist Democrats’ habit of downplaying the Holocaust, which is on brand with the rampant anti-Semitism and bigoted hate speech within their caucus. When are they going to learn?
(National) One thing is clear about Jared Golden, Matt Cartwright and Susan Wild’s embrace of government-run, socialized health care: it will exponentially raise their constituents’ taxes. As a matter of fact, the ONLY thing voters know about their ridiculous plan is that it will take more money out of their pockets and saddle them with higher taxes. Good luck explaining that to middle-class families, you silly socialists!
(CA-25, CA-45) A new UC Berkley poll out last week shows only 35 percent of registered voters in California believe Congress should begin impeachment proceedings against President Trump. That number is in direct contrast of comments made by Reps. Katie Hill and Katie Porter who say they’re hearing more and more from constituents who want to see impeachment proceedings begin. Both Hill and Porter claim this isn’t something they came into office wanting to focus on, yet they continue to do so. Now that the numbers show otherwise, will Hill and Porter finally stop focusing on baseless impeachment?
(CA-45) It’s obvious Katie Porter values the opinion of the socialist Democrats in Washington more than the opinion of her Orange County constituents on the issue of impeachment. Porter is getting major props from her socialist Democrat colleagues for supporting impeachment even though polling shows her constituents clearly are against impeaching President Trump. Read more in the San Francisco Chronicle.
(CA-48) Did you see that Harley Rouda set a self-imposed deadline for impeachment? Rouda told The New York Times that if the White House is still “stonewalling” by June 30, he will advocate for an impeachment inquiry – even if it “costs him his seat.” Given only 35 percent of California voters support the baseless impeachment of our president, Rouda may be in for a rude awakening. Good luck, Harley!
(CO-03) Cheri “Beltway” Bustos’ DCCC decided to drum up some publicity against Rep. Scott Tipton with a small digital ad buy last weekend. One problem: The ad was blatantly false. The ad claims Tipton hasn’t held a public event since March 2017, even though he has held and attended a number of public events in his district over the past few months. Maybe instead of blacklisting female political consultants, Beltway Bustos should focus on hiring folks to fact check the DCCC’s false ads!
(FL-15) After socialist Democrat Andrew Learned stepped in it on Twitter, Cheri Bustos’ DCCC decided to meddle in the FL-15 primary. New reports are indicating that Washington Democrats are attempting a candidate swap between Learned and Florida House incumbent Adam Hattersley. Apparently, Cheri Bustos and her socialist colleagues think they can tell Floridians who to vote for. How swampy! Guess we’ll add this to the “DCCC primary meddling” list…
(GA-06) Lucy “Straw Man” McBath fundraised for her political campaign on Twitter this week, complaining about the NRCC drawing attention to her Second Amendment flip-flop. But it’s her constituents who should be upset, given that they’re represented by a carpetbagger who says one thing in Georgia and the complete opposite in DC. To watch Lucy’s Second Amendment flip-flop, click HERE.
(IL-06) “Captain Planet” Sean Casten claims to be a champion of the environment who is leading the charge to replace “old, dirty energy,” like fossil fuels and greenhouse gas emissions. But as it turns out, Captain Planet has over a quarter million dollars in mutual funds invested in big oil, and has accepted thousands in campaign donations from the oil and gas industry (despite crowing about his advocacy to clean up Washington). Now he’s decided to spend the rest of his term focused on baseless impeachment. Yikes! What a hypocrite…
(IL-14) Rather than representing her constituents, Fake Nurse Lauren Underwood is once again flying out to California to lock down campaign cash from West Coast liberal elites, and encouraging others to become fake nurses too. This isn’t the first, or even second, time Fake Nurse Lauren has resorted securing campaign donations from socialists on the West Coast, who are simply delighted with her extremely liberal voting record. At this rate, Fake Nurse Lauren is on track to beat her 2018 contributions from PACs and individuals in California, which were already hundreds of thousands more than those from Illinois. Keep it up, Lauren!
(MI-08) Elissa Slotkin, who was repeatedly passed over for an assistant defense secretary position, boldly stated the Trump administration “does not have a clear strategy on Iran.” That’s rich, given Slotkin was tongue tied when then-Sen. McCain asked her to outline a strategy on Iran, which is at least one reason why she failed to get confirmed. Presumably, it’s also why McCain called her “totally unqualified.” Given her lack of qualification and support for a deal that gives $150 billion to ISIS, Slotkin should probably sit this one out.
(MI-11) Socialist fan girl Haley Stevens is among the 16 freshman Democrats who will travel to Israel this summer. Does that mean Stevens will give back the campaign cash she took from Ilhan Omar, a rabid anti-Semite who thinks:
- September 11, 2001 was just a day when “some people did something“?
- Stephen Miller, a Jewish-American, is a white nationalist?
- Israel has hypnotized the world?
- For Jews who support Israel, it’s “all about the Benjamins“?
- Israel is not a democracy?
Or will Stevens keep the money and remain complicit with Omar’s bigoted hate speech?
(MN-07) Cranky Collin Peterson has reportedly sold his luxurious waterfront DC condo for nearly a half-million dollars, which begs the question: After 28 years, has cranky Collin FINALLY had enough of the Swamp? Based on his recent refusal to unify with the Minnesota delegation around disaster relief, his party’s full embrace of socialism, and his inability to work with President Trump to fix our immigration crisis, it appears cranky Collin has had enough of Washington. As Peterson prepares to retire, he’s giving a big middle finger to President Trump and his constituents. So cranky!
(NJ-03) ISIS “expert” Andy Kim had the gall to call out President Trump’s efforts to ensure security in the Middle East, saying “we’ve seen what happens when we enter a conflict without fully understanding the consequences.” But, the only reason we’ve seen disastrous results when entering a conflict without understanding the consequences is because of Kim himself. Kim claims he was President Obama’s “point man” on all things Iraq and ISIS related from 2013-2015, so for those who don’t remember, here’s a refresher on what happened under Kim’s leadership:
- 2013 – Many senior officials questioned the level of expertise of President Obama’s team and Iraq saw its highest death toll in 5 years
- 2014 – Obama declared “we don’t have a strategy yet” on ISIS, called them a JV team, and admitted to underestimating their threat
- 2015 – Obama again admits that there is no complete strategy on ISIS as they continued to gain ground
(NJ-07) Looks like Tom Malinowski is ready to throw in the towel. Axios is out with a new report detailing how the socialist
Democrats are ready to trash their 2020 electoral prospects to impeach President
Trump, and with Malinowski’sembrace of their radical efforts, he’ll
likely fail right alongside them. We look forward to Malinowski campaigning
on how he stood with his left-wing colleagues on baseless impeachment instead
of putting the needs of New Jerseyans first!
(NM-02) Yet another local government is crying out
for federal help at the New Mexico border, but Xochitl Torres Small
continues to make matters worse. In an op-ed that appeared in the Albuquerque
Journal, Otero County Board of Commissioners Chairman Couy Griffin
called attention to the crisis facing local governments because of Torres
Small’srefusal to acknowledge the crisis and
political grandstanding. Click HERE to read Griffin’s full column.
(NY-11) Cheri Bustos’ DCCC is in hot water after getting caught
accepting nearly $25k from financiers of the anti-vaxxing movement. This is especially
embarrassing given the DCCC just announced they’d be running ads falsely claiming Nicole
Malliotakis is an anti-vaxxer. Another swing and a miss for the DCCC who
desperately needs to hire a fact-checker!
(NC-09) Back in May, China Dan McCready (as usual) evaded questions about whether he would
run for Senate – and now we know why! WBT reports that China Dan made TWOsecret trips to Washington and even met with Chuck
Schumer about a possible Senate run. Whether it’s claiming to get
tough on China…and then sending jobs to China, railing against dark money…and then accepting their millions,
or hiding his political ambitions, China Dan McCready just can’t be straight with North Carolinians!
(OR-04) In case you missed it, the NRCC is running digital ads targeting Peter DeFazio in
Oregon’s 4th Congressional District. Hillary Clinton barely
squeaked out a win in OR-04 in 2016 (which has an even PVI), and it was just reported that DeFazio
has a primary challenger. Smells like trouble for Peter D!
(TX-23) Days after getting called out by Colorado press for running
false ads against Scott Tipton, Cheri Bustos’ DCCC went at it
again smearing Texas Rep. Will Hurd. The DCCC attempted to attack
Hurd on supposed inaction on child migrants but clearly forgot to check
in with their policy team. If they had, they would have seen that Rep. Hurd
had just proposed an amendment to increase funding for migrant children to $2.4
billion in the recent Labor, HHS and Education appropriations bill. The
best part is, DCCC Chair Cheri Bustos and her socialist colleagues voted
against funding for migrant children. (Roll Call Vote #3 HERE.) You really can’t make this up!
(TX-24) Disgraced war profiteer and failed candidate Kim Olson is
out with a new campaign video, during which she makes a feeble attempt to
explain the criminal acts that got her kicked out of the military. Olson says
she, “did what I had to do to get the security team paid and save lives.” And
that for doing so she was “reprimanded.” But the military had a different way
of describing it, saying Olson, “took
advantage of her position for personal gain and made a mockery of U.S. efforts
to establish the rule of law in a country long ruled by corrupt autocrats.” So
what really happened? Click HERE to read the full story.
News & Notes
NRCC Targets Long-Serving Oregon Democrat Peter DeFazio
The National Republican Congressional Committee has launched an early $5,000
digital ad buy targeting Oregon Democrat Peter DeFazio.
Rep. DeFazio has been a member of Congress since 1987, but Republicans are
increasingly hopeful his 4th Congressional District can be flipped in 2020. It
went heavily for President Obama in both 2008 and 2012, but in the last
presidential vote, the district on the Pacific coast south of Portland tilted
to Clinton by a slim 554 votes.
“Tell Socialist Democrat Peter DeFazio to oppose impeaching President
Trump!” the Facebook ad says. It also quotes a television interview from
the congressman, saying, “We are moving forward essentially with an
impeachment inquiry…”
The early move against the long-serving Democrat comes on the heels of a CNN
exclusive last week reporting the Trump campaign was eyeing Oregon for more
attention and spending for the 2020 cycle. READ.
The GOP Saw Right Through The Democrats’ Opposition Research Pledge
President Donald Trump told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that he wouldn’t
necessarily turn down dirt on his political opponent if it came from a foreign
source. The Left went apoplectic. This rehashes the Russian collusion nonsense,
but it’s on Trump’s terms. There shouldn’t be any doubt here. The liberal media
has been driven insane by this presidency. They’re corrupt. They’re stupid.
They can’t cover this White House accurately. And now that the Russia
investigation headed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller is over, with the
president being totally exonerated on Russian collusion, Trump is going to poke
the bear and keep these legions of idiots at full froth. Keep them agitated and
they’ll keep making mistakes. That’s how it’s been for nearly four years now.
Democrats think this gave off the signal for foreign governments to attack our
elections again. Oh goodie, the party whose weak spot is foreign policy
is going to lecture us about cyber security. The Party that crafted the Iran
deal, which has evaporated into the ether, marred by failure and misery, is
going to take the mantle of keeping us safe. It’ll be just like how they handled
Russia when Obama was in office, in which that administration did nothing. You
even have Senate Democrats saying Obama dropped the ball. CNN’s Jake
Tapper had a more accurate description: they were asleep at the switch.
The Republicans know this, which is why they saw right through this shoddy
pledge the Democrats tried to get them to sign off on in the wake of this
interview. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) pretty much
tried to get the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) to agree
not to accept opposition research (via Roll Call)…READ.
Democrats make early bid to unseat Tipton with misleading ad
Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, may have won re-election to the U.S. House less
than a year ago, but Democrats have already started campaigning for his seat in
the 2020 election.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the campaign arm of House
Democrats, placed English and Spanish language ads on Facebook last week
targeting constituents in Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, which spans
the western half of the state from New Mexico to Wyoming.
The ads pose a simple question: “Where’s Tipton?”
“Congressman Scott Tipton has spent nearly a decade in office looking out for
his special interest donors while consistently failing to show up for
hardworking Coloradans,” DCCC spokesperson Brooke Goren said in a news release.
A cartoon of Tipton dressed in red and white stripes like the titular character
in the children’s book series “Where’s Waldo?” is featured in the ad. Once
clicked, it redirects to a ticking clock on a DCCC webpage counting the time it
has been since Tipton’s out-of-date website says he last held a public event
for his constituents. The clock read 834 days on Wednesday.
The problem with the ad is that Tipton has in fact held recent public events. READ.
