NRCC Weekly Rundown: And now back to our regularly scheduled socialist gong show

June 28, 2019

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

(National) Nancy Pelosi and her band of socialists seriously can’t get their act together. This week House Democrats surrendered to the NRCC after pulling the rule for their partisan border funding bill. On top of that, 37 Democrats joined Republicans to pass a GOP-led Motion to Recommit (MTR) that would increase funding to support the enforcement of sanctions on Iran. These are the latest examples in a long line of embarrassing mishaps for Pelosi’s socialist caucus. REMINDER: Not a single MTR passed during the last four GOP-led Congresses.

(National) The socialist Democrats were silent this week on Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s despicable comments claiming the U.S. is running concentration camps on the southern border. Click HERE to watch socialist Democrats Anthony Brindisi, Katie Hill and Dean Phillipsignore and defend the rampant anti-Semitism in their caucus.

(National) Americans saw just how insane the socialist Democrats are in the first two primetime Democratic presidential primary debates this week. Viewers heard all about the socialist ideas the Democratic Party wants to impose on them. From decriminalizing illegal immigration and tearing down our existing southern border walls, to taxing people into oblivion to pay for a socialist takeover of the economy and government-run health care. The socialist Democrats will stop at nothing to transform America into a government-run, socialist wasteland, and this week’s debates were a wake-up call for what’s at stake ahead of the 2020 election.

(CA-25) Katie Hill and Kamala Harris want to strip Californians of their private health care to install a government-run, socialized system that will result in higher taxes, longer waits to get care and no choice.Katie Hill was an early endorser of Kamala, and was cheering Harris on as she doubled down on her support for a single-payer system during last night’s socialist Democrat primary debate. Not a great look for Katie Hill who represents a moderate, swing district…

(CA-45, 49) If you had any doubts about Katie Porter and Mike Levin’s socialist Democrat street cred…Democracy for America’s endorsement should alleviate your concerns. The group is endorsing both Porter and Levin, in part, because of their steadfast support of Medicare For None and the Green New Deal. It’s worth noting Democracy for America’s other endorsements include socialist darling AOC…

(CA-48) No matter what he says, Harley Roudasupports the baseless impeachment of President Trump. He said so in THIS January 2018 primary debate and THIS tweet from February 2018. Not sure why Rouda flipped his position in last year’s general election to “wait” for the Mueller report, or where this arbitrary June 30th “deadline” came from, or why he’s invoking the 25th Amendment, which allows the Cabinet to remove the President with no trial…but these are all good questions for Harley. (P.S. Just a reminder that there are multiplepolls showing Harley’s constituents disagree with impeachment!)

(CO-06) Jason Crow has been very public in calling for constituents to keep up to date on vaccinations, even tweeting back in March that “Vaccines save lives.” Unfortunately, Crow’s conviction on the matter didn’t stop him from accepting a big campaign check from Al Dwoskin, an anti-vaccine crusader and socialist Democrat donor. Dwoskin and his wife are well known for funding the shameful anti-vaxxers who have convinced crackpots across the country to start a measles epidemic. So will Crow return Dwoskin’s donation? Or does campaign cash trump public safety?

(FL-26, 27) Last week, Florida Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powelladmitted she supports the baseless impeachment of President Trump. Since we haven’t heard a peep from Debbie’s colleague and fellow South Floridian, Donna Shalala, it’s safe to assume she’ll be following Debbie and the socialist Democrats down the impeachment rabbit hole too. South Floridians deserve to know – is Donna Shalala going to support baseless impeachment and abandon the issues that matter most to Floridians?

(GA-06) New federal documents show Lucy McBath has been lying about her wealth. The AJC notedMcBath’s latest financial disclosure includes “hundreds of thousands of dollars in assets that weren’t previously listed…”Lucy has been caught lying about her stance on the 2nd Amendment, her residency, and now her wealth. Will Lying Lucy ever be honest with Georgians?

(IA-02) Rita Hart rolled out an endorsement from Emily’s List this week, a Washington-based PAC that pushes for extreme, late-term abortion laws. Hart’s backers were last seen attackingJoe Biden for his past opposition to taxpayer-funded abortion, calling the policy “unacceptable.” So, it’s probably worth asking whether Hart also supports forcing taxpayers to pay for abortions. After all, it’s highly unlikely that a group like Emily’s List would endorse her if she didn’t share their radical views.

(IL-13) Back from her swanky DC fundraiser, socialist loser and former lobbyist Betsy Londrigdan is now pledging she “won’t take a dime of corporate PAC money.” But, Betsy happily accepted hundreds of thousands from the DCCC, which is “swimming” in corporate PAC money, raising about $2 million in just the first quarter of 2019. So will Betsy refuse help from the DCCC? (Hint: No.) Instead, Betsy will keep peddling lies to distract central Illinois from knowing she is a socialist who supports single-payer health care, the Green New Deal and partial and late-term abortions.

(IL-14) Democracy for America, which has already thrown support behind radical House Dems Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaibendorsed another socialist darling this week – Fake NurseLauren Underwood. No doubt it was Underwood’s extreme voting record (the most liberal in Congress) that caught DFA’s eye. Underwood’sCalifornia donors must be thrilled, but it’s unlikely voters in IL-14 (which President Trump won by 4 points) share their enthusiasm…

(IL-17) It’s been a reallyreally, REALLY bad week for Cheri “Beltway” Bustos. On top of upsetting the socialists in her party, fending off a promised primary challenger, and promoting a racist homophobe to lead the DCCC’s diversity efforts, Bustos is again under fire for the DCCC’s blacklisting policy which is causing Marie Newman to lose campaign staffers. Yikes.

(MN-02) Angie Craigblew off a constituent’s letter asking for an ethics inquiry into rabid anti-Semite Ilhan Omar, who violated campaign finance laws and committed tax fraud to evade our immigration system, saying she’s going to focus on the issues. Except…Angiesaid she believes Congress “can do two things at once.” Which begs the question: If Angie really thinks Congress can do two things at once, shouldn’t she be asking for an ethics investigation? Or is Angie’s standard to blow off the concerns of constituents with whom she disagrees as “political stunts” and stay loyal to crazy socialist radicals like Omar?

(NM-02) The NRCC is up with a new digital ad this week calling out Xochitl Torres Small for her refusal to acknowledge the crisis on our southern border. Local governments in New Mexico have been feeling the strain caused by the surge in illegal border crossings, but Torres Small has remained silent, drawing condemnation from local officials and editorial boards. Click HERE to view the ad, which is running on Facebook in NM-02.

(NY-11) As constituents protested outside Max Rose’s office last weekend over his failure to condemn Ilhan Omar’s anti-Semitism, Rose made clear he had no time for their criticism. Rose dismissed his constituents’ concerns over Omar’s bigoted hate-speech, saying they are playing “political games.” Rose knows a thing or two about political games. Here he is attempting to hide behind a staffer while being questioned about AOC’s suggestion that the U.S. is using concentration camps along the southern border. Nice try, Max, but the questions aren’t going to disappear just because you’re out of the camera shot!

(NJ-11) Mikie Sherrill went on CNN this week to lie about her efforts to fix the ongoing crisis along our southern border, telling CNN’s John Berman“We know what we need to do, we need more judges at the border. We need to hear these cases more quickly. We need to make decisions.” But, this week Sherrill voted against a Republican effort to provide $75 million to fund up to 100 new immigration judges. Mikie Sherrill is exactly what is wrong with Washington.

(NC-09) China Dan McCready got slammed in the press this week for denying he ever invested in Strata Solar which outsourced jobs overseas to China. And, well, the headline says it all! To read about the other times China Dan has lied to North Carolinians, click here, here, here, and here.

(OK-05)
A new digital ad from the NRCC runningin Oklahoma calls attention toaccidental Congresswoman Kendra Horn’s support for taxpayer-funded abortions. The ad comes as socialist Democrats across the country continue to push for more and more radical abortion laws, of which Horn has been an avid supporter. Click HERE to view the ad, which is running on Facebook in OK-05.

(TX-24) The TX-24 socialist Democrat primary sure is filling up quickly! Socialist school board member Candace Valenzuela put out a campaign video this week to introduce herself to DC donors. And, Valenzuela has a big advantage in the primary – unlike disgraced war profiteer Kim Olson, her video didn’t need to paper over any crimes involving directing millions in military contracts to mercenary firms that she ran!

(TX-31) Socialist law enforcement hater Christine Eady Mann was triggered this week after the NRCC called her out on her disgusting rhetoric and extreme views. Mann chose to respond by lying on a podcast. Mann went on Backwards in High Heels podcast where she had a mini-meltdown recounting the NRCC’s press releases attacking her for minimizing the Holocaust, tweeting a picture that said “F**k ICE,” and endorsing a host of socialist policies. She then bizarrely claimed the NRCC sent a fundraising email utilizing her name to raise money….which never happened. (P.S. Speaking of donating to the NRCC, check out our fancy new WinRed page HERE.)

(VA-02, 07) Lt. Governor Justin Fairfax is thrilled with all the attention he’s received since being accused of raping multiple women. The alleged serial rapist shockingly told the press“Many people a year ago would not have recognized me, now they really do,” and is seriously contemplating a run for governor. Since Elaine Luria and Abigail Spanberger are still holding onto the moneyFairfax gave them, do they support Fairfax using rape and his victims to run for higher office?

News & Notes

‘Everyone hates this place’: Border bill tears apart Democratic caucus

Democrats broke into open warfare Thursday over Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s surrender to the Senate’s emergency border aid package, with the caucus’s long-simmering divide between progressives and centrists playing out in dramatic fashion on the House floor.

Some lawmakers even resorted to public name-calling, with progressive leader Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) accusing moderate Democrats of favoring child abuse — an exchange on Twitter that prompted a pair of freshmen centrists to confront him directly on the floor, with other lawmakers looking on in shock.

Pelosi has spent months deftly navigating a diverse caucus brimming with political novices, deeply split on ideological lines and itching to throw the president out of office. But this week’s fiasco exposed fissures in Pelosi’s rank-and-file, in her leadership and in her relationship with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.). READ.

What Republicans must do to take the House

Last week, Politico and The Hill both reported that “anonymous” Republicans were concerned with the aggressive approach of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) under new chairman Tom Emmer. These sources made all kinds of fiery accusations under the cloak of anonymity and succeeded in getting Beltway publications to understandably jump at the opportunity to gin up the kind of controversy that captures attention in Washington, D.C., and nowhere else.

Unfortunately, this kind of “friendly” fire from other Republicans is extremely unhelpful. It distracts and ultimately hurts the committee’s core functions — recruiting quality candidates, raising money and aggressively defining Democrats.

But more importantly, the criticisms of Tom Emmer and his NRCC staff couldn’t be further from the truth. He and his staff are running an impressive operation and are doing what it takes to win back the 18 seats needed to win the majority. From fundraising to recruiting to communicating, this team is smart, hungry and relentless. READ.

NRCC Comes Out Swinging as Debbie Mucarsel-Powell Opens the Door to Impeaching Trump

Freshman U.S. Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, D-Fla., has opened the door to impeaching President Donald Trump–and drawing heavy fire from the GOP.

Mucarsel-Powell, who sits on the U.S. House Judiciary Committee, weighed in on the possibility of impeaching Trump on Friday.

“Debbie Mucarsel-Powell has joined her socialist Democrat colleagues in their calls for the baseless impeachment of President Trump,” the NRCC noted. “The announcement comes on a Friday afternoon – also known as ‘Take Out the Trash Day,’ probably in the hopes no one would notice that Debbie’s colleagues have bullied her into taking this position. Worth noting that Debbie likens President Trump to an authoritarian dictator in her decision to open an impeachment inquiry.”

Camille Gallo, a spokeswoman for the NRCC, continued along that line of attack on Friday.

“Debbie Mucarsel-Powell’s hatred of President Trump is impacting her ability to help her constituents. The voters of FL-26 deserve someone who is going to fight for them – not someone like Debbie who will cave to her socialist Democrat colleagues whenever they ask,” said Gallo. READ.

Just-Promoted DCCC Official Has History of Homophobic, Racist Comments

A Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee official tapped last week to lead a new multimillion-dollar initiative to connect with “people of color and younger Americans” deleted thousands of old tweets after the Washington Free Beacon reached out regarding many homophobic and racially insensitive posts.

Tayhlor Coleman, a longtime staffer at the committee, was named the DCCC’s first director of the cycle of engagement, a role DCCC chairwoman Rep. Cheri Bustos (D., Ill.) said would be a “tremendous challenge.”

“I want to thank Tayhlor Coleman for taking on this tremendous challenge at this critical moment,” Bustos said. “I can think of no one more prepared to lead this effort than her.”

Coleman took to Twitter this month to express her support for the gay community, but her previous posts give a different perspective of her views.

In February 2010, for example, she tweeted out concern about “giving a lesbian” her phone number, tagging the tweet with “#homophobia.” READ.

Left-Wing Group Announces List Of House Democrats To Unseat

Roots Action, a left-wing group led largely by supporters of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), drafted a report on 15 House members it considers ripe targets for progressive primary challenges, arming the Democratic Party’s populist wing with a new organizing tool as it seeks to unseat a growing number of incumbents.

Roots Action, which is calling its analysis “Bad Blues: Some of the House Democrats Who Deserve to Be ‘Primaried,’” hopes the report can serve as a road map and source of encouragement for individuals or groups considering a primary run.

The incumbent House members its identifies are: Cheri Bustos of Illinois, who chairs House Democrats’ campaign arm; Jim Cooper of Tennessee; Jim Costa of California; Henry Cuellar of Texas; Eliot Engel of New York; Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey; Jim Himes of Connecticut; Majority Leader Steny Hoyer of Maryland; Derek Kilmer of Washington; Dan Lipinski of Illinois; Gregory Meeks of New York; Brad Schneider of Illinois; Kurt Schrader of Oregon; David Scott of Georgia; and Juan Vargas of California. Support impeachment, lose a seat: Why some California Democrats go easy on Trump

For California’s congressional Democrats, it’s easy to stand strong for impeaching President Trump when there’s no chance they will have to pay a political price.

With polls showing that most Orange County residents oppose beginning impeachment efforts, “it’s obvious Katie values the opinion of the socialist Democrats in Washington more than the opinion of her Orange County constituents,” Torunn Sinclair of the Republican National Congressional Committee said in a blog post.

The committee followed up Thursday with Facebook ads asking district residents to sign a petition asking her not to impeach Trump. READ.

Impeachment politics roil Casten’s re-election race

A politically risky decision to back an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump’s performance has sparked what I believe is the first local campaign ad of the 2020 cycle.

The ad comes from the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee and is aimed at Rep. Sean Casten, D-Downers Grove, who a few days ago joined with an increasing number of House Democrats in moving toward impeachment even though Casten’s own district traditionally has tilted Republican.

The spot so far is running only on digital media and with limited financial backing of $5,000 or so, I’m told. But a related assault came from former Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti, who has announced her intention to challenge the freshman Democrat next year and who ripped Casten for fundraising off his impeachment announcement. READ
