NRCC Weekly Rundown: Impeachment fever!
And here’s this
week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:
(National) Vulnerable House
Democrats started off the week rightly panicking over their
caucus’ obsession with impeaching President Trump and the disastrous impact it will have on
their reelection hopes. A recent Politico report detailed internal polling
from the DCCC, which found 54 percent of voters nationally think the
Democrats’ main focus is investigating President Trump, though only 10
percent believe that should be the party’s top priority. The socialist
Democrats have doused their conference in gasoline and swing district Dems are
begging them not to light the match. Unfortunately for them, the socialist
Democrats are full speed ahead!
(National) A slew of
vulnerable House Democrats – including Colin Allred, Cindy Axne, Abby
Finkenauer, Andy Kim, Katie Porter, Abigail Spanberger and Xochitl
Torres Small – have been loud and proud with their pledges to ban dark
money. In fact, all of them cosponsored and voted for H.R.1 and the DISCLOSE Act. But right now,
the liberal dark money group Protect Our Care is running $2 million worth of
digital ads propping up these silly
socialists. Apparently dark money is only bad when they aren’t benefitting from
it!
(National)Nancy Pelosi’s radical caucus released their newest socialist agenda item this week: a
prescription drug plan that would leave drug pricing in the hands of government
bureaucrats. Pelosi’s plan would be catastrophic for everyone from kids
to seniors to cancer patients because it increases costs, devastates investment
opportunities and paves the way for socialized medicine. Nothing to see here
except another example of massive government overreach by the socialist
Democrats!
(AZ-01,
CA-10, CA-21) Tom O’Halleran, T.J. Cox and Josh Harder are refusing to support the
USMCA even though farmers, ranchers and business owners in their districts
desperately need the agreement ratified as soon as possible. In fact, every single former agriculture secretary
has endorsed the agreement! With so much bipartisan support, why aren’t
these congressmenon board? Because
they can’t risk the wrath of primary challengers, Nancy
Pelosi or the DCCC!
(CA-25) After months of
dragging her feet on impeachment (but doing plenty of cable TV appearances on
the subject) Katie Hill is suddenly pro-impeachment (shocker!).
I’m old enough to remember Katie Hill on MSNBC one week ago
saying “we should focus on things that matter.” No word on why Katie’ssuddenly changed her
mind…
(FL-13) Career politician Charlie Crist announced he’s endorsing fellow career politician and 2x
failed presidential candidate Joe Biden. FYI – earlier this year Bidenraised his hand in support of giving free
health care to illegal immigrants. Does that mean Crist is on board with that loony socialist idea too?
(IA-01)Abby Finkenaurcannot be serious. At a Rotary Club event in
Cedar Rapids this week, she expressed concern over the prospect of rural
hospitals closing but failed to mention it’s her own radical socialist agenda
that’s putting these hospitals in jeopardy. A recent study showed the socialist Democrats’ plan for
a “public option” for health insurance would force 52 Iowa hospitals
to close their doors. If Abby really cared about Iowans, wouldn’t she
ditch the socialist agenda that’s hurting them?
(IL-03, 17) The headaches for Beltway Bustos and her
flailing DCCC keep on rolling as socialist AOCofficially endorsedMarie Newman this
week over sitting Democrat incumbent Dan Lipinski. Bustos’ DCCC blacklist policy couldn’t keep Newman
out of the race, which has allowed Newman to garner more support from
far-left groups like Justice Democrats and Roots Action. Between Bustos’ recent diversity dumpster fire and Justice
Democrats’ ads against her, Beltway Bustos should
tread carefully…
(IL-06) Impeachment fan boySean
Casten peddled fake news last
weekend, jumping on board with the socialist 2020 candidates who are calling
for the impeachment of Supreme
Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over an allegation that turned out to be
(surprise) not true. But facts, much like the concerns of the
Illinoisans he is supposed to represent, don’t seem to matter to Casten.
It’s time for Casten to be impeached for all of his stupid ideas!
(MI-08, 11) This is awkward… Michigan Reps.Haley Stevens and
Elissa Slotkin are doing anything they can to avoid talking about fellow
Michigan Democrat and rampant anti-Semite Rashida Tlaib. Stevens
has accepted campaign cash from known anti-Semite Ilhan
Omar, so why is she dodging questions about endorsingTlaib?
(MI-11) Haley Stevens introduced a bill to combat “deepfakes” and “prevent
the proliferation of fake news and hoaxes.” Makes sense, considering she knows
a thing or two about “deepfakes,” fake news and hoaxes! Stevenscampaigned on her role as the “Chief of
Staff” of Obama’s federal auto-task force, except…she wasn’t. (Haley didn’t
actually have much power, aside from taking lunch orders.)
(MN-07) Lyin’ Cranky Collin peddled fake news this week, calling his
votes against the wall “misinformation.” BUT, Cranky Collin
voted against the wall FOUR times! (HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE). Maybe, instead of lying to western
Minnesotans, Cranky Collin should call it quits and go home.
(NJ-05) Josh Gottheimer is demanding the immediate resignation of a local New Jersey
Democrat who made disgusting anti-Semitic comments this week. But why won’t Gottheimer
use the same tough rhetoric when it comes to members of his own party in
Congress? After all, Gottheimer has refused to call for Ilhan Omar
to be removed from the Foreign Affairs Committee after her repeated anti-Semitic remarks. Talk about a double standard…
(NJ-11)Mikie Sherrill has found herself in a lose-lose situation
after Mark Washburne announced he’s primarying the freshman rep. over her refusal
to back the impeachment of President Trump. Now, Sherrill must
either back impeachment to appease her socialist base and anger the
independents, or refuse to back impeachment and anger the base she needs to
win. Good luck, Mikie!
(NY-11, NY-18, NY-19, NY-22) New York’s six Republican members of
Congress sent a letter to the Attorney General and
the Department of Justice asking them to block Governor Andrew Cuomo’s
insane law allowing illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses. Not included as signees: Anthony Brindisi,
Antonio Delgado, Sean Patrick Maloney and Max Rose. I
guess these socialists are completely fine with making it harder to crack down
on illegal immigration and voter fraud, and proudly standing with Gov.
Cuomo’s radical abuse of power…
(OK-05) Accidental Congresswoman Kendra Horn recently joined the
chorus of vulnerable Democrats begging their deranged
socialist party to not force them to vote on impeaching President Trump.
But, when asked this week about the socialist Dems latest impeachment obsession – Justice Brett
Kavanaugh – Horn was surprisingly quiet. KWTV reached out to Horn’s office to
get a statement from the Congresswoman, but their calls were not returned. Probably worth a follow-up!
(OR-04)Peter DeFazio,
a sitting Congressman and Chairman of the Transportation Committee, is actually
a conspiracy theorist. This week, when
a constituent said he believed President Trump was laundering money for
the Russian mafia, DeFazio began to explain why that could be the case and
how Deutsche Bank could be at the “nexus of it all.” Since Peter D wants
to peddle insane conspiracy theories, wesent
him his very own tinfoil hat making kit! Although, DeFazio’s
sudden leap to the loony left isn’t surprising – he now has a real primary race on his hands!
(PA-08) Turns out Matt
Cartwright has been using his taxpayer-funded job to introduce legislation
aimed at lining his own pockets. According to
the Washington Examiner, Cartwright“has spent years sponsoring truck insurance legislation that would directly
benefit his family’s law firm, in which he owns a multimillion dollar stake…” Not
a good look. Click HERE to read more.
(SC-01)Nancy Pelosi
is off to save Fake Engineer Joe Cunningham with a
fundraiser in South Carolina next month. It’s no surprise Pelosi is
coming to her loyal soldier’s rescue, after all, Cunningham votes for
her socialist agenda over 85% of the time. This fundraiser might even be the
perfect opportunity for Cunningham’s wife to complain about her
taxpayer-funded health care!
(TX-22)Sri Kulkarni
must have received some bad polling numbers because now he’s racing from the radical socialist
agenda he once vocally supported (as recently as this week). On the now-deleted issues page of
his campaign website, Kulkarni had proudly endorsed a host of socialist
policies, but now he’s pretending to be a moderate who doesn’t support
socialized medicine or a full-on ban of “high-capacity semi-automatic weapons.”
I wonder why he’s had a change of heart…
(VA-02,
07, 10) This week we learned Canadian Prime MinisterJustin
Trudeauwore brownface at a party…in
2001. This is eerily similar to the Virginia Democrats’ scandals, including
current governor, Ralph Northman who admitted he wore blackface, and AG Mark
Herring, and the allegation that LG Justin Fairfax was a serial
rapist. Don’t worry, all three are still in office even while Congresswomen
Spanberger and Luria think Fairfax is a rapist…but they won’t return his campaign
donations.
(VA-07) While Abigail
Spanberger was pretending to be a moderate and preaching
civility, one of her top campaign aides was hurling vulgar and profane attacks
at Republicans on social media. Reports revealed
her aide called all Trump supporters, “white trash piece(s) of
s**t” and called Republican elected officials—among other
insults—a “f****ing dullard” and a “talking d***o.” Spanberger’s
aide was doing this for months, but suspiciously Abigail and
her staff only unfollowed him after the press questioned her… No one’s buying it, Abigail!
(WI-03)Ron Kind
is facing backlash after confronting a tracker
during a PUBLIC event in Wisconsin. The tracker – who was minding his own
business among Kind’s constituents – was told by an aide to leave,
before Kindattacked the
tracker, physically confronting him and making a
grab for his phone. What was he so scared the tracker would catch?
News & Notes
GOP Women Flood 2020 House Battlegrounds
A wave of Republican women have signed up to run in the hottest House districts
despite a summer filled with setbacks.
Party recruiters have fielded at least one female candidate in 27 of the 40
most competitive House seats that are open or held by a Democrat. That number
could grow in the coming weeks as several more prepare to launch bids in key
battlegrounds.
Strategists say electing more women, a longtime challenge for the party, is
more important than ever this cycle, as the number of GOP women sits at a
historic low point of 13—and two more are set to retire next year. If female
nominees can emerge from next year’s primaries, Republican leaders said they
believe they can also help stanch the party’s bleeding among women voters,
particularly in suburban areas where President Trump is less popular. READ.
Impeachment push raises political concerns for House Dems, even as GOP
retirements give boost
House Republicans are facing a steep climb to regain the majority in 2020, as
mounting retirements in the party complicate their efforts to wrest the gavel
from Speaker Nancy Pelosi. But they may have been given a political gift this
past week when Democrats doubled down on their pursuit of an impeachment
investigation against President Trump.
The move came after Republicans already were enjoying a dose of good news on
the congressional campaign front: the party’s narrow win in the special
congressional election in North Carolina. The National Republican Congressional
Committee touted that the “victory is yet another sign that congressional
Republicans are poised to take back the majority.”
A day later, the House Judiciary Committee took a step with potentially bigger
implications — approving a resolution defining the panel’s impeachment probe,
in the first official vote on the matter.
More than half of Democratic lawmakers in the House support launching
impeachment proceedings. Yet considering the GOP-controlled Senate is unlikely
to act on any possible impeachment articles from the House, moderate Democrats
in the House loudly warned that their colleagues are walking into a political
trap. READ.
2020 Democrats may dream big now, but reality will bite them later
The bidding war that has defined the Democratic presidential race reached its
apogee of absurdity earlier this month when Bernie Sanders had to explain that,
no, he had no plans to erase voters’ credit card bills.
Questioned about his proposal to wipe away $81 billion in personal medical debt
in a New Hampshire interview, the Vermont socialist told the Concord Monitor and
NHTalkRadio.com: “I don’t believe we wipe out credit card debt. You want to
buy… a yacht, and you go in debt, hey, that’s your decision.”
It is easy to understand the pent-up demands of Democratic voters. In this
century, the only time that the Democrats have controlled both the White House
and Congress was during the first two years of Barack Obama’s presidency.
While passing the Affordable Care Act by the narrowest of margins in 2010
remains Obama’s most enduring legacy, it also played a major role in dethroning
Nancy Pelosi as speaker in that year’s midterm elections. As a result, Obama’s
powers were mostly limited to foreign policy and executive orders during the
final six years of his presidency.
Thwarted in their dreams, the 2020 Democrats — exemplified by Elizabeth Warren
— have put together more plans than the Allies drew up in preparation for
D-Day. READ.
SC congressman’s wife complains publicly about her taxpayer-supplied health
care
Talk about bad optics.
The video posted by the wife of Charleston’s Democratic congressman Joe
Cunningham was a self-described “rant” about Congress’ health care plan.
It didn’t cover her therapy sessions, she lamented, or their marriage
counseling.
While it was only a minute long, it was long enough to be weaponized by Republicans.
Sitting on the floor and talking directly to the camera, Amanda Cunningham
posted on Instagram her dissatisfaction with the health care coverage that
comes with being a member of Congress (salary $174,000 a year). READ.
