NRCC Weekly Rundown: Democrats politicize their impeachment sham

November 15, 2019

Here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

(National) NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer blasted the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) on Friday in response to a Washington Post report that the political group was meddling in the official impeachment hearings against President Donald Trump. According to WaPo, Democrats have ceased accusing President Trump of engaging in a quid-pro-quo and are now accusing him of engaging in bribery “after the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee conducted focus groups in key House battlegrounds in recent weeks, testing messages related to impeachment.” Emmer said: “It’s quite ironic to see House Democrats so openly politicize the legislative branch of the federal government in these sham impeachment proceedings with poll-tested verbiage from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. It is also completely inappropriate. This is another nail in the coffin of a socialist Democrat majority hellbent on throwing our country into a constitutional crisis without fact or merit because they cannot accept the fact that President Trump won the 2016 election. Make no mistake about it – Democrats will lose the House next November over this unhealthy impeachment obsession.”

(National) Somehow the socialists running the House of Representatives have taken their insanity to a whole new level with Ayanna Pressley’s latest policy proposal entitled: “The People’s Justice Guarantee.” The plan includes:  Decriminalizing prostitution; making illegal immigration a civil offense; ending the death penalty; effectively legalizing sanctuary cities; capping sentences for ALL crimes including murder; abolishing private prisons/jails/immigration detention centers and bail bondsmen; and limiting firearm sales and production. The People’s Justice Guarantee sounds like a sure way to get four more years of President Trump and a freshly minted Republican House Majority in 2020.

(CA-10) California socialist Josh Harder just introduced a bill that would ban corporate PAC money. Seems pretty hypocritical considering Harder has taken over $200,000 in laundered corporate PAC money. ABC 10 in Sacramento even fact-checkedHarder and found his claim that “he doesn’t take corporate PAC money” misleading. So, is Harder going to return all that cash and promise not to take anymore? Probably not.

(CA-48) Harley Rouda took time out of his Veterans Day to drive to a TV studio in Irvine, CA to talk with CNN about why he wants to remove President Trump from office. Rouda is so obsessed with impeaching President Trump that he’s taking precious time away from the few days he can see his family and constituents to drive to a TV camera to spew about how much he hates the President. Sad!

(FL-26, FL-27) Just a quick reminder that Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Donna Shalala are still full of it on Venezuela. Debbie and Donna announced they joined the Venezuela Democracy Caucus, a new bipartisan group in Congress. But just a few months ago, they both voted with their party AGAINST a bipartisan motion to condemn socialism as the cause of the crisis in Venezuela. Nice!

(IA-03) Cindy Axne celebrated Veterans Day this week by lying to Iowa veterans. Axne told a group of veterans at the American Legion in Winterset that Congress would be voting on H.R. 3, a prescription drug pricing bill, this week. This is, of course, a lie. Congress will be doing no such thing, and instead will be focused completely on their clown show of an impeachment inquiry.

(IL-14) According to Fake Nurse Lauren Underwood real people in government” sexually prey upon their young subordinate staffers. At least that’s what she told TIME about her roommate, sexual predator and ex-Rep. Katie Hill, who resigned in order to avoid a House Ethics investigation into her inappropriate sexual relationships with subordinates. PS: We also noticed Underwood kept quiet on Hill’s misdeeds until after she officially resigned from Congress. Was she worried about getting called before the House Ethics Committee to answer questions about her roommate’s predatory behavior? So much for “the highest standards of ethics and decency”!

(MI-08) Elissa Slotkin is peddling lies to Michiganders, saying the Democrats’ sham impeachment investigation and the USMCA, will both be wrapped up before Christmas. But Speaker Pelosi already made clear the USMCA will not be passed this year, and has refused to specify a timeline for impeachment. But apparently details don’t matter to Slotkin, who has already made up her mind on impeachment. Shame on Elissa for lying to her constituents about what’s going on in Washington. So much for her promise to “bring problem solving to Washington”!

(MN-02) Angie Craig got blasted on MPR for doing nothing in Congress to lower the cost of health care for Minnesotans. Angie admitted health care is no more affordable than before, and when the host pressed her on why, Angie fired back: “I cannot wave a magic wand on this.” Maybe if Angie wasn’t so obsessed with removing President Trump from office she could actually get something done for her constituents!

(MN-07) Cranky Collin Peterson is peddling fake news about the USMCA, saying President Trump’s trade deal could be passed in the next two weeks. But, Speaker Pelosi already made clear the deal isn’t going anywhere this year. So…instead of demandingPelosi bring the USMCA to the floor for a vote, Cranky Collin would rather lie to Minnesota farmers. Sad!

(NJ-07) In a recent interview about Democrats’ baseless impeachment quest, Tom Malinowski asserted that the Democrats’ “job is to shape public opinion, not just follow public opinion. But the opposite is happening. The Washington Post revealed that Democrats have ceased accusing President Trump of engaging in a quid-pro-quo and are now accusing him of engaging in bribery. Malinowski and the delusional Democrats are now openly admitting that their attempts to throw the country into a constitutional crisis are all about politics. Sad!

(NY-18) It didn’t take long for Sean Patrick Maloney to adopt the DCCC’s poll-tested argument that President Trump committed “bribery,” instead of “quid pro quo.” This is just further proof that their impeachment quest isn’t based on facts but rather poll-tested focus groups in a desperate attempt to remove President Trump from office.

(VA-02) Elaine Luria went full “Leeroy Jenkins” on impeachment this week, going up on air with a new ad boasting about her leadership on the socialist Democrats’ sham to remove President Trump from office. In the ad she (once again) declares the president has committed impeachable offenses—even before the public hearing has started. What was that about *not*coming to “Washington to impeach the President?”

News & Notes

Peter King, Veteran New York Republican in House, Announces He Will Retire

WASHINGTON — Representative Peter T. King, the longest-serving Republican in New York’s congressional delegation, said on Monday that he would retire, joining a growing exodus of Republicans from Congress ahead of the 2020 elections.

Mr. King, who is currently serving his 14th term in the House, said in a statement that his decision was primarily motivated by the desire to end the weekly commute to Washington after nearly three decades and have “more flexibility” to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

Chris Pack, a spokesman for the Republican counterpart, countered in a statement thanking Mr. King for his service, saying that the district “will remain a Republican seat, thanks in no small part to the insane socialist agenda of Democrats in both Washington and Albany.” READ.

GOP seeks to dethrone Collin Peterson, one of the Hill’s few rural Democrats

Democratic Rep. Collin Peterson has a long track record over his 28-year tenure in Congress of defending rural interests. Yet he’s one of the most endangered Democrats in the House because of the Trump effect.

The two-time House Agriculture chairman has built a reputation as a brash straight-shooter who frequently bucks the Democratic Party. Peterson was just one of two Democrats who voted against moving ahead with impeachment proceedings for President Donald Trump last week. He voted against the Affordable Care Act, disagrees with abortion rights legislation, and has an “A” rating from the National Rifle Association.

But those credentials may not be enough to get voters in Peterson’s solidly Republican district to continue backing him in 2020. His margins have shrunk every election since 2014, and the National Republican Congressional Committee is planning to throw its weight behind a leading challenger. The Cook Political Report labels the race in Minnesota’s 7th District a tossup.

Handpicked by NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer, a Republican representative from Minnesota, Fischbach is vying for a congressional seat as the GOP steps up recruiting more women to its ranks. A handful of other Republicans have declared, such as Dave Hughes, the third-time challenger who came within four points of beating Peterson in the 2018 midterms. Republicans have spread the idea that Peterson is ready to hang his hat for several elections. (The NRCC has nicknamed him “Cranky Collin.”) This year, Peterson sold his D.C. condo for $460,000, which the NRCC said is a sign he will retire at the end of his current term. READ.

Campaigns look to capitalize on first impeachment hearings

Loath to waste a national spotlight, campaigns on Wednesday sought to take advantage of the first public impeachment hearing in two decades, though groups pushing Republicans seemed more willing to urge angry voters to contribute as the hearing unfolded while Democrats were more low-key.

War rooms for the Democratic and Republican national committees each issued dueling fact checks as the House Intelligence panel began public hearings into whether President Donald Trump committed an impeachable offense by withholding military aid while pressing Ukraine to investigate a chief political opponent. But the similarities between the parties’ approaches stopped there.

The National Republican Congressional Committee also sent a fundraising email with this message: “If you want to support President Trump, do not wait. NOW is the time to act.”

The NRCC, which is working to retake the House, is running ads on Facebook targeting a handful of vulnerable Democrats and encouraging those who see the ad to sign a petition to stop impeachment, according to the platform’s ad library. Petitions like that are used to build lists of supporters, which can then be used to send out future appeals. READ.

NRCC Depicts Schiff As A Clown Amid First Public Impeachment Hearing

The National Republican Congressional Committee was quick to react to the first public impeachment hearings in a Wednesday morning tweet.

Less than an hour after the public testimonies of acting Ukraine ambassador Bill Taylor and top State Department official George Kent began, the NRCC tweeted a doctored photo of House Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA) as a clown.

The Wednesday morning tweet criticized the hearings for being “another one of @RepAdamSchiff’s clown shows.” READ.
