SUBJECT: KANSAS PRIMARY RESULTS

KS-02: Jake LaTurner (R) vs. Michelle De La Isla (D)

Democrats will be hard-pressed to compete in this solidly Republican district with President Trump at the top of the ticket. Trump won this district in 2016 by an 18-point margin, surpassing Mitt Romney’s 13-point victory in 2016.

Jake LaTurner starts the race with a built-in name ID advantage from his successful run for Treasurer in 2018, when he outperformed the top of the ticket by more than 130,000 votes statewide. Topeka Mayor Michelle De La Isla is far too liberal for this conservative, largely rural district.

PVI: R+10
2016 Presidential Results: Trump 55.6% – Clinton 37.3%
Ratings: Cook Political Report – Lean Republican; Inside Elections – Safe Republican
Geography: The district encompasses most of eastern Kansas, excluding Kansas City’s inner suburbs. It includes the city of Topeka. The DMA split is 37.7% Kansas City, 36.6% Topeka, 19.6% Joplin, 5.0% Tulsa and 1.1% St. Joseph.

KS-03: Sharice Davids (D) vs. Amanda Adkins (R)

Sharice Davids campaigned as a moderate, but has been nothing but a rubber stamp for her party’s radical leadership, voting with Nancy Pelosi 99% of the time. Her voting record is far too liberal for this moderate district.

Amanda Adkins is a successful businesswoman with a long history of service to the community through her nonprofit initiatives. Her brand of commonsense conservativism will provide a clear contrast to Davids’ extreme record in Washington.

PVI: R+4
2016 Presidential Results: Clinton 46.9% – Trump 45.7%
Ratings: Cook Political Report – Lean Democrat; Inside Elections – Lean Democrat
Geography: The district is in suburban Kansas City. It includes Wyandotte and Johnson Counties and part of Miami county. It is entirely within the Kansas City DMA.
