Palm Springs biz owner: “I can’t find enough human beings to work”

May 12, 2021

Raul Ruiz promised that the American Rescue Plan would get “the economy moving again.”

Instead, the United States posted the biggest jobs report miss in 23 years because it turns out when you pay people not to work, they don’t work, and businesses suffer.

Just ask business owners in Raul Ruiz’s congressional district:

Dean Lavine, owner of Blackbook bar and restaurant in Palm Springs says,“I can’t open as early as I want to yet, because I can’t find enough human beings to work.”

Rene Alcala, owner of the Bubba’s Bones and Brews locations in Cathedral City and Palm Desert, says, If you told me right now that I could open up at 100 percent, I would literally be pulling my hair out, because I wouldn’t know how to staff the restaurants, and I wouldn’t know what to do.”

Alcala also specifically mentioned Democrats’ $1.9 trillion “stimulus” package: “We were planning to get ready for the opening (of indoor dining), so we had about 10 interviews set for one day. Well, that was the same day that (the U.S. Senate) approved the extra money for the $1.9 trillion stimulus package. So when that happened, three people called up and said they weren’t coming…”

Patrick Service, owner of Las Casuelas Terraza, in downtown Palm Spring says,” We have been closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. In order to open up seven days a week like we’d been doing for 41 years, we need to add staff…so, it’s been a challenge.”

Raul Ruiz and Democrats’ socialist agenda isn’t putting people back on the job, it’s destroying local small businesses and the economy.
