NRCC Chairman Hudson Statement on Democratic Candidates’ Refusal to Condemn Pro-Hamas Riot

November 17, 2023

After a full day passed without any meaningful response from Democratic House candidates present at the pro-Hamas riot during a DCCC candidate week event Wednesday, NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson (R-NC) issued the following statement:

“I am disappointed that Democratic candidates have hidden from the media and not condemned the left-wing riot at their candidate event. The extreme Democrat base is at war with itself and it’s sad Democrats running for office lack the moral clarity to condemn violent extremism in their own ranks. Their silence speaks volumes about how they would treat assaults on police or physical threats to their staff if elected.” -NRCC Chairman Richard Hudson

Background:

  • Democratic leaders Hakeem Jeffries, Katherine Clark, Pete Aguilar, and DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene were inside the building at the time of the riot.
  • Multiple other unnamed Democratic Members of Congress and candidates were in attendance and have not spoken out.
  • The event was a DCCC candidate week reception featuring Democrats’ favored recruits.
