NRCC Statement on NE-02 Primary

The National Republican Congressional Committee released the following statement on the NE-02 primary:

“Republicans are able to win this seat because of who Don Bacon is and there is no one better suited to serve NE-02 voters than him. As a former brigadier general and strong, commonsense legislator, we remain confident that Congressman Bacon will be re-elected in November and Republicans will hold this seat.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Delanie Bomar

Background:

• Bacon raised a record-breaking $780,000 in Q4.
• Bacon constantly outperforms the top of the ticket. In 2020, Biden won the district 52%-46% and Bacon won re-election 51%-49%.
• Despite NE-02 having an Even PVI, Cook Political ranks NE-02 as Lean Republican, another indicator of Bacon’s strength.
• Bacon has been endorsed by his 2022 primary opponent for 2024.
• Dan Frei lost in the primary in 2014.
