NRCC Poll: Pre-SOTU GOP Battle Plan to Weaponize Immigration
Ahead of the State of the Union address, the NRCC polled 55 swing-districts that will decide the House majority taking a looking at how Biden and extreme House Democrats’ open-border policies alienate independent voters.
Key findings include:
- This is the first time immigration has been a top issue among independent voters in recent NRCC Battleground surveys.
- The last NRCC Battleground survey had immigration as the top issue for only 3% of independent voters.
- When asked: “On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being the most important, how important is the issue of immigration and the southern border in deciding your vote?”
- 55% of independents labeled it an 8, 9, or 10.
- 57% of independents support the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas.
- 59% of independents agree with deporting illegal immigrants, regardless of why they came to America.
- 67% of voters say “no” it’s not their “community’s responsibility to provide housing, education, healthcare, and other resources to illegal immigrants that have been placed in their community by the Government.”
- When voters are educated about all that is contained within H.R. 2, support for the bill skyrockets to 69%.
NRCC National Press Secretary Will Reinert said: “You can put lipstick on a pig, but if extreme House Democrats want to try to hide their dangerous open-border policies they’ll be walking around looking like Bozo the clown. When an innocent college student is murdered in cold blood by an illegal migrant or local police budgets are slashed to pay for the consequences of Biden’s border crisis, it’s easy to see why voters remain eager to kick Democrats out of office.”
