Last week, Congressman Derrick Van Orden toured a senior assisted living facility in Altoona after recovering $4 million in funds for the facility.

Republican Congressman Derrick Van Orden visited Altoona to tour a senior assisted living facility. 

Grace Lutheran Communities operates eight facilities across the Chippewa Valley, offering services such as memory care, senior assisted living, and adult day services. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company attempted to use the employee retention credit under the federal COVID-era relief program.

However, according to Rep. Van Orden, it was denied due to a clerical error.

“They should’ve been awarded a little over $4-million and as the Federal government does oftentimes due to a clerical error essentially, these facilities weren’t given over $4-million so working with my office directly, we were able to get the money,” Rep. Van Orden said.
