Suozzi & Gillen: Destroying rural hospitals one vote at a time

September 5, 2025

A new report calls out Democrats Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen for fearmongering. Instead of standing up for New Yorkers who depend on their local hospitals, Suozzi and Gillen voted against $50 billion in new funding through the Rural Health Transformation Program, a lifeline meant to keep struggling rural hospitals open.

Here’s what Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen rejected:

  • $50 billion to keep rural hospitals open.
  • Support for doctors, nurses, and patients in small towns across America.
  • Relief for communities already facing Medicaid cuts and vanishing healthcare access.

“Out of touch Democrats Tom Suozzi and Laura Gillen voted to shut the doors on rural hospitals and abandon the families who rely on them. They chose politics over patients, ideology over outcomes, and weakness over leadership and New Yorkers won’t forget it.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole
