NEPA’s Hero Rob Bresnahan Saves Scranton’s Hospitals

October 27, 2025

NEPA native Rob Bresnahan has stepped in and saved emergency healthcare for tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians after political opportunist Paige Cognetti jeopardized it.

In 2023, Cognetti blocked a critical rezoning proposal that would’ve allowed a Scranton community health center to expand their emergency services. This year, Scranton’s hospitals were put up for sale, placing Scranton families’ access to emergency room care at risk. Cognetti’s blockage of the medical center’s expansion meant these families would have to drive almost 30 minutes to access lifesaving medical services.

Thankfully, Congressman Bresnahan announced that a deal has been reached to purchase the hospital housing Scranton’s full-service emergency room, saving emergency services access for tens of thousands of Pennsylvanians who rely on it.

“Cognetti jeopardized emergency healthcare for Scranton families. Rob Bresnahan saved it. The difference couldn’t be clearer.” – NRCC Spokesman Reilly Richardson
