Michigan Congresswoman Kristen McDonald Rivet voted against reopening the government on Wednesday with a bipartisan deal that sends more than $4.3 million to her constituents.

McDonald Rivet was among 207 Democrats and two Republicans who opposed the continuing resolution to fund the government at current levels through Jan. 30, while six Democrats joined with 216 Republicans to end the 43-day shutdown: Reps. Henry Cuellar of Texas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Adam Gray of California, Jared Golden of Maine, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington, and Tom Suozzi of New York.

As part of the bipartisan deal, lawmakers restored more than $4.3 million in Community Project Funding for Michigan’s 8th Congressional District.

The project funding includes $1 million for equipment at Central Michigan University, $1.015 million for construction of a childcare facility in the Hemlock Public School District, $866,000 to improve a fire station in Bridgeport Charter Township, $911,000 for the Ten Sixteen Recovery Network, and $554,000 to upgrade Buena Vista Charter Township’s wastewater treatment facility.

“Out of touch Democrat Kristen McDonald Rivet betrayed mid-Michigan. Her vote against re-opening the government and against millions in funding for Michigan’s 8th congressional district proves she will always put party politics ahead of Michiganders,” said Zach Bannon, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee.
