ICYMI: Nick Begich Ensures Continued Investment in Alaska’s Public Safety
This week, Congressman Nick Begich led the effort to reauthorize the National Volcano Early Warning and Monitoring System (NVEWS)through 2030.
Alaska is home to over 130 volcanoes, a large number which are active, posing significant threats to air travel, energy infrastructure, and Alaskan communities. Renewing authorization for this vital program supports ongoing readiness to safeguard Alaskans and critical infrastructure from future volcanic activity.
This marks Congressman Begich’s 10th bill to pass the House of Representatives in 2025.
“Congressman Nick Begich continues to put Alaska first by delivering commonsense solutions. This Begich-led legislation once again demonstrates his commitment to protecting Alaskans and communities across the state.” — NRCC Spokesman Zach Bannon
