Socialist Ammar Campa-Najjar and Progressive Marni von Wilpert are tearing into each other in an increasingly ugly Democrat primary in California’s 48th District, turning what Democrats once called a “must-win” seat into a full-blown political migraine as panic sets in and confidence in flipping the district collapses. 

Either way, Democrats are headed for a bruising primary that will leave either Socialist Ammar Campa-Najjar or Progressive Marni von Wilpert limping into the general election to face commonsense Republican Jim Desmond, who enters the race with a massive war chest and the momentum firmly on his side.
