WASHINGTON – The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) today announced Derek Merrin is being added to the 2026 MAGA Majority program.

Background:

  • Derek Merrin is a former state representative from Lucas County who is running to finish the job he started last election cycle. Recent polling showed Merrin has a 4 point lead on Kaptur.
  • The MAGA Majority program highlights a slate of strong candidates running in key battleground districts across the country who embody the Trump agenda: securing the border, lowering costs, restoring energy dominance, and putting American workers first.
  • The NRCC will provide MAGA Majority candidates with early support, strategic resources, and visibility as Republicans expand the map and go on offense in districts where Democrats are vulnerable.
  • With over a dozen Democrats currently sitting in Trump-won seats, the battlefield is already favorable for Republicans, and the MAGA Majority is designed to capitalize on that opportunity.
  • MAGA Majority is the new name for the NRCC’s long-time Young Guns program.
