National Media: AL-02 Is a Top GOP Pickup. Again.

October 1, 2026

Shomari Figures just landed on another list of Democrats most likely to lose. Fox News today named AL-02 one of the Democrat-held seats Republicans are positioned to flip. That follows The Hill, which said Republicans are very likely to win the seat, and the Washington Examiner, which ranked it the second most likely seat in the country to flip.

The math is brutal for Figures. Trump carried the new AL-02 by 14 points, and Cook rates it Likely Republican. Figures doesn’t even live in the district, which no longer includes Mobile.

With nearly three-quarters of Alabamians struggling to afford at least one basic need, Figures voted against the Working Families Tax Cut’s tax relief, including an expanded Child Tax Credit and no tax on tips, overtime, and Social Security.

Rhett Marques is the candidate built for this district. He ran Goodson Tire & Auto in Enterprise, won the NFIB endorsement, backs ending taxes on overtime, and won his six-way primary outright with 50%.

“In less than two years in Congress, out of touch Democrat Shomari Figures has tried to raise Alabamians’ taxes by thousands of dollars, refused to help secure the border, and pushed to allow men to compete in women and girls’ sports. Shomari Figures doesn’t live in this district, and come November, he won’t represent it either. Rhett Marques is going to win this seat.” – NRCC Spokesman Reilly Richardson
