AL-02 Ranked Top GOP Pickup Opportunity Once Again

October 29, 2026

With just five days until Election Day, Shomari Figures has found himself on more lists of Democrats most likely to lose, with Roll Call and National Journal ranking him among the country’s top 10 most vulnerable incumbents. This comes after Figures landed atop similar lists in Fox News, The Hill, and the Washington Examiner.

The math doesn’t work for Figures. President Trump won the new AL-02 by 14 points, and Figures doesn’t even live in the district, which no longer includes Mobile.

Even though three out of every four Alabamians struggle to afford at least one basic need, Figures voted against the expanded Child Tax Credit, no tax on tips, no tax on overtime, Social Security tax breaks, and critical support for farmers.

Conversely, Rhett Marques’ campaign is built for this district. He operated a small business in Enterprise, supports critical tax relief for Alabama families, opposes allowing men to compete in women’s sports, and won his six-way primary outright with 50%.

“Out of touch Democrat Shomari Figures came to Congress and immediately began voting with his radical party at the expense of Alabama families, which is why his reelection campaign is on the ropes. Next week, Rhett Marques is going to win this seat and give Southeast Alabama the representation it deserves in Congress.” – NRCC Spokesman Reilly Richardson
