NRCC Introduces Young Guns Vanguard Program
Seven Top-Tier Republicans Enrolled In Program For Candidates in GOP-Leaning Open Seats
Washington- The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) announced today the creation of the new Young Guns Vanguard program. The ‘Vanguard’ program will provide a framework for the NRCC to assist candidates running in Republican-leaning open seats as they head into the fall. It kicks off a working relationship between the NRCC and these Vanguard candidates, as well as their future colleagues in the House Republican Conference, in advance of the election. By entering the program, these candidates will play a vital role in the NRCC’s mission to retire Nancy Pelosi and work towards winning and building a lasting Republican majority for years to come.
“These Young Gun Vanguard candidates will play an imperative role in our goal to retire Nancy Pelosi and fight our way back to a majority,” said NRCC Chairman Pete Sessions. “Middle-class families are tired of an out-of-touch Democrat majority that has pursued an agenda of more spending and less jobs, and these seven candidates will fight tirelessly to offer fiscally sound solutions to get our economy back on track.”
The Young Guns ‘Vanguard’ is an extension of the NRCC’s Young Guns Program, which was originally founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle by Reps. Eric Cantor (R-VA), Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), and Paul Ryan (R-WI) as a member-driven organization, the Young Guns program has become an official NRCC effort dedicated to electing open-seat and challenger candidates nationwide. Reps. Cantor, McCarthy and Ryan remain very involved in Young Guns, working together to recruit and prime conservative leaders for victory.
“The Vanguard designation is a natural extension of the Young Guns program,” said House Republican Whip Eric Cantor. “Candidates in the Vanguard program will receive our full support and are critical to re-taking the majority this fall.”
“The American people are looking for leaders willing to stand up and oppose the heavy-handed policies being advanced by those running Washington,” said Congressman Paul Ryan. “The members of the Young Guns Vanguard program will play a critical role in the fight to spur job creation now, lift our crushing debt burden, and reclaim the promise and prosperity of this great nation. I am happy to welcome these seven candidates to the growing Young Guns family.”
