NRCC Weekly Rundown: Dumpster fire at the DCCC

July 26, 2019

And here’s this week’s edition of the NRCC Weekly Rundown:

(National) As the socialist Democrats head home for August recess, they’re leaving their party in a fiery heap of dysfunction. Check out POLITICO’s report detailing the rampant incompetence within Cheri Bustos’ DCCC including an exodus of top staffers, overall mismanagement and concerns over a racist and homophobic staffer being promoted to run their diversity outreach program. Yikes!

(National) While you’re at it, make sure to check out NRCC Chairman Tom Emmer’sop-ed that ran in Roll Call this morning. Nancy Pelosi’s problem with socialism is bigger than a 4-person “squad…”

(National) Health care, the socialist Democrats’ poster issue, is turning into a huge weakness ahead of 2020. The Washington Post detailed the outright panic amongst vulnerable House Democrats, as their party pushes for government-run socialized health care that will kick millions of Americans off their private health care plans, lead to worse care and higher costs. The socialist Democrats are quickly realizing they’ll have to own every socialist idea their presidential candidates back. Good luck defending all these incompetent ideas, you loony leftists!

(National) The deranged socialist Democrats just won’t give up their quest to impeach President Trump, with Special Counsel Robert Mueller testifying this week. REMINDER: Mueller’s report found NO evidence of collusion or obstruction on President Trump’s part, but more than two years after the investigation began, here we are. Nancy Pelosi and her socialist cohorts have turned their majority into a political circus and voters can see right through it.

(California) The San Francisco Board of Education is spending $600k to paint over a mural of GEORGE WASHINGTON, enraging both Republicans AND progressive Democrats alike. So far we haven’t heard a peep from California socialists Josh Harder, T.J. Cox, Katie Hill, Gil Cisneros, Katie Porter, Harley Rouda and Mike Levin. These pathetic socialists are so incredibly woke they can’t even defend President George Washington. Unreal.

(CA-21) T.J. Cox released a quite a statement this week after Robert Mueller’s testimony saying, “we must protect this democracy and hold this administration accountable.” AND, local TV affiliate KSEE reported that Cox said President Trump committed a crime. Would T.J. care to expand on his conspiracy theories? While he’s at it, can he explain his numerous shady business dealings? Or why he and the DCCC are raking in cash from DC fundraisers while simultaneously slamming Republicans for “scraping the bottom of the swamp for checks”?

(CA-45) Impeachment zealot Tom Steyermaxed out to Katie Porter shortly after Porter announced she would support impeaching President Trump. Has Porter spoken with Steyer about impeachment since taking office in January? Would she consider Steyer’s impeachment cash “special interest money?” Someone should ask her, especially since it’s been eerily quiet on the western front since Robert Mueller testified before Congress…

(CA-48) This week Harley Roudaadmitted on Fox News that if Robert Mueller “holds true to his statement” his testimony will be “a bit of a challenge” for the Democrats questioning him. So in other words… the socialist Democrats are desperately grasping at any (paper) straws questioning Mueller, because they know the Special Counsel’s report alone doesn’t provide enough evidence to impeach President Trump. Click HERE to watch for yourself.

(FL-13, 26, 27) Charlie Crist, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and Donna Shalala joined the socialist Democrats this week in refusing to condemn the murderous socialist regimes of Hugo Chavez and Nicolas Maduro. This comes on top of both Mucarsel-Powell and Shalalavoting with socialist darling AOC over 94% of the time. Oh, and let’s not forget this picture! I guess these Florida Reps. are more loyal to the socialists in their party than south Floridians.

(FL-26) Despite promising to work on serious issues facing South Floridians in Washington, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell joined the socialist Democrats in their deranged quest to impeach the President and now we know why. Right after coming out in support of impeachment, Debbiereceived a max out contribution of $5,600 from California billionaire and impeachment zealot Tom Steyer. Looks like it pays to ditch your constituents and chase conspiracy theories!

(IA-01, 02, 03) As Iowa searches for answers after the triple murder of a mother and her two young children by a twice-deported illegal immigrant, Michelle Root, whose daughter was also killed by an illegal immigrant, is speaking out and placing blame on the socialist Democrats’ immigration policies. “We don’t need Democrats that want open borders, because again, my family is the end result of all these open border policies,” Root said. Unfortunately, Iowa’s Democrats have fully embraced their party’s immigration extremism, with Abby Finkenauer and Rita Hart voting to allow sanctuary cities in the state, and Cindy Axne voting to allow citizenship for illegal immigrant gang members

(IL-06, 14, 17) Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is facing serious backlash after she was caught on a hot mic calling a Chicago police official a “clown.” When asked to apologize for her comment, Lightfoot begrudgingly responded, “I’m sorry that I said it out loud.” Really? So far, all we’ve heard from Illinois socialists Cheri Bustos, Sean Casten, and Lauren Underwood is crickets. Will they condemn Lightfoot’s comments? Or will they stand with Lightfoot in disrespecting a 30-year veteran police officer in one of America’s most violent cities?

(IL-13) In case you missed it, the Chicago Tribune is detailing the shady financial dealings of four ComEd lobbyists who are under federal investigation for providing payments to an ousted Illinois political operative.  What else do these corrupt lobbyists have in common? They’ve all donatedthousands to Socialist Loser Betsy Dirksen Londrigan’s congressional campaign! Betsy even appears to be close friends with one of the men under investigation. Betsy is the first to decry corporate PAC money (even though she’s accepted hundreds of thousands from the DCCC), but will happily take money from corrupt Chicago lobbyists?

(IL-14) Just a quick reminder that Lauren Underwood is a Fake Nurse. The New York Times recently confirmed this, writing that Underwood“never specifically worked with patients.” However, in an interview prior to the 2018 election, Fake NurseLauren lied directly to the camera saying, “I, as a nurse, have looked into my patients’ eyes.” We thought we’d remind you, since it looks like Fake Nurse Laurenforgot.

(KS-03) Despite earning high praise from socialist Democrat leadership for her loyalty to Nancy Pelosi and voting against President Trumpmore than 95% of the time, Sharice Davids is struggling with her socialist base back home. Davids was the target of protestors angry about her recent vote for the bipartisan border security bill, with one protester saying, “It’s a betrayal of those of us who supported her. ” Guess there’s a downside to aligning yourself with the socialist left for political convenience…

(NE-02) While Socialist Loser Comrade Kara Eastman called for the baseless impeachment of President Trump, Cheri Bustos’ DCCC was busy recruiting a Plan C to run against Congressman Don Bacon. Gladys Harrison, the owner of Big Mama’s Kitchen, announced she formed an exploratory committee this week. The Intercept first reported last month that the DCCC was recruiting Harrison last month amid concerns that Eastman and Ashford were not up to the task. However, if you take a quick look at Harrison’s background, court documents reveal several run-ins with the law. Maybe the DCCC should move onto Plan D…

(NJ-07) We now also know why Tom Malinowski joined the socialist Democrats in their deranged quest to impeach President Trump. Take a guess? Tom Steyer! As the Washington Free Beacon reported, Malinowskireceived the maximum contribution of $5,600 from the California billionaire and impeachment zealot. After a life in the swamp, it’s clear Malinowski is still taking his cues from billionaire donors instead of the voters who elected him.

(NC-09) Consumed by their hatred of President Trump, the Charlotte City Council voted to call the President a “racist” and reports indicate the Mayor wants to back out of hosting the RNC convention. Two of the members who voted to call the President a “racist,” endorsedChina Dan McCready and one even donated money to him.  So, does China Dan agree that President Trump is a “racist” like his endorsers? Does China Dan think Charlotte should disinvite the RNC and deny the city an economic boom from the convention? REMINDER: President Trump won NC-09 by double digits.

(PA-08) Despite representing a district President Trump won by 10 points, Matt Cartwright has gone full socialist, voting with Nancy Pelosi 100% of the time during this Congress. Cartwright’s support hasn’t gone unnoticed by Pelosi who donated $14,000 to the Pennsylvania Democrat. I guess Cartwright has chosen to sell out his constituents for some extra campaign cash…

(PA-10) Both Democrat and Republican lawmakers are growing concerned with free-spending Auditor General Eugene DePasquale’s antics, cutting his budget over fear he was spending state resources on items beyond his office’s jurisdiction. Not a good look, Eugene! Click HERE to read more.

(OR-04) Peter DeFazio was quick to come out in favor of impeachment after Robert Mueller testified this week. Was he watching the same painful hearings we were watching? I mean, just last week, instead of taking a stand, feckless DeFazio voted “present” on a vote to move forward with impeachment. Is there some new piece of evidence that’s convinced him? Why change your mind now, Peter D?

(TX-21) After some trial and error, Texas laughingstock Wendy DavisFINALLY made it official that she’ll be the socialist Democrats’ sacrificial lamb in TX-21. Just a friendly reminder to those who’ve forgotten about Davis’ failed gubernatorial run – she lost the 21st Congressional District by the same 20-point margin she lost by statewide. I guess centering a campaign on your advocacy for late-term abortion and dancing around the baseless impeachment of President Trump isn’t a winner in Hill Country, Wendy!

(WI-03) According to a new NRCC poll in WI-03, Ron Kind is already trailing a named Republican candidate 43%-45%. The survey also shows Kind’s approval rating is underwater, and that Wisconsinites are far from welcoming towards the socialist policies being proposed by the socialist Democrats. This is a major concern for Kind, who has been notoriously passive on his party’s dramatic shift to the left and has consistently put his hatred of President Trump before the needs of his constituents.

(WA-03) In case you missed it, socialist LoserCarolyn Long has been touting her “endorsements.” But, it doesn’t really matter since she never received the endorsement of Washington voters. Why did Socialist Loser Carolyn Longlose? Long supports socialized healthcare that will eliminate private health care for millions of Americans in favor of a government-run system that will result in longer wait times, no choice and worse care.

News & Notes

Pelosi’s problem with socialism is bigger than a 4-person ‘squad’

My grandfather’s Democratic Party is officially dead.

The embrace of socialism has become the official stance of the Democratic Party and poses a direct threat to every American.

Nancy Pelosi is desperate to minimize the socialists who have taken over her caucus. She wants us to believe the new socialist Democratic Party is only a small group of four people dubbed “the squad.” Unfortunately for Pelosi, the socialist Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives are not limited to a squad — they are a red army of socialists committed to pushing this country as far left as possible.

And to think we once thought Pelosi was the radical left in what was once the Democratic Party.

Thanks to the new socialist Democratic Party, gone are the days when Republicans and Democrats argued about the size and scope of government versus the right of individuals to self-determine, and where to draw the line between those two points of view.

The socialist Democrats who now control the House have made it clear they are here to destroy the free America that we love. I know this is hard to accept, but don’t take my word for it — look at the actions coming from the socialist Democrats who are dead-set on turning over our health care and economic systems to government control. Black, Latino Dems torch campaign arm for lack of diversity

The House Democrats’ campaign arm is locked in a long-simmering battle with prominent black and Hispanic lawmakers who believe the party committee and its chair have short-changed minorities.

Senior Hispanic and black members of Congress have privately clashed with Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.) over her personnel decisions, what they say are tone-deaf comments on race and whether she’s lived up to the promises she made during the campaign to win the chairmanship of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

“There is not one person of color — black or brown, that I’m aware of — at any position of authority or decision making in the DCCC,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio), a former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. “It is shocking, it is shocking, and something needs to be done about it.”

Bustos sought a meeting with Fudge, and Fudge said no.

“Until they show me they are serious about diversity, there’s no reason for me to meet with them,” Fudge said. READ.

GOP campaign chair: where ‘Minnesota nice’ meets hockey trash-talker

Tom Emmer loves hockey. The Minnesota congressman played in college, and even now, approaching 60, he still plays. On top of his duties as chair of the House Republican campaign committee, which is spearheading the GOP effort to retake the House next year, he’s a key member of the bipartisan Congressional Hockey Caucus.

Off the ice, he’s a big friendly guy. On the ice, he admits to being a trash-talker. At the start of his Monitor Breakfast with reporters July 18, he pulled up a photo on his phone showing himself in an uncomfortable-looking celebratory move from the team’s latest charity match.

“After we scored the first goal, I did something which is called ‘ride the horse’ down center ice, and I’m very proud of it,” Congressman Emmer said.

Mr. Emmer is clearly bringing that same competitive spirit to his campaign work. House Republicans got shellacked in the 2018 midterms, losing 40 seats and returning Democrat Nancy Pelosi to the House speakership. Mr. Emmer faces a steep climb trying to pull off a comeback, and his committee – formally known as the National Republican Congressional Committee, or NRCC – is not shy about trash-talking Democrats. Dems launch secret-money ad blitz to back House majority

Top Democratic strategists are launching a new outside group that can raise and spend unlimited money to tout issues that helped candidates flip the House in 2018 and became early legislative priorities this year.

The group, a nonprofit called House Majority Forward, seeks to cut through media coverage of House Democrats focusing on White House investigations and a handful of outspoken freshmen. It formed quietly in March but will begin running its first TV and digital ads Thursday night — part of $10 million in issue advertising planned for 2019, according to interviews and documents obtained by POLITICO.

The nonprofit will operate as an affiliate of House Majority PAC, Democrats’ flagship super PAC focused on House races. But unlike the super PAC, it will not have to disclose its donors and some details about its spending. READ.

Wendy Davis Won’t Say Whether She Supports Impeachment of Trump

Failed Texas gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, who announced Monday she was running for Congress, refused to say Monday whether she would support the impeachment of President Donald Trump.

Davis appeared on MSNBC’s All In, where she was asked by fill-in host Joy Reid whether she would cast her vote in support of impeaching Trump if she became a member of Congress.

“If an impeachment vote comes my way, I think the people are going to vote really in November of 2020 in that regard, and I’m anxious to hear exactly what [Robert] Mueller says on Wednesday,” Davis said.

“So that’s a no,” Reid responded.

Davis pushed back and said her answer was not ruling out support for impeachment. READ.

Tom Steyer Rewards Pro-Impeachment Reps

Tom Steyer made maximum contributions to the campaigns of three Democratic representatives after each voiced support for an impeachment inquiry.

Before launching a presidential bid in July, Steyer was responsible for bankrolling the biggest impeachment push in the country, and looks likely to make impeachment one of his core issues in the coming months. The billionaire had previously been one of the largest donors in politics, particularly for congressional Democrats. Campaign finance filings for the last fundraising quarter show that Steyer made donations to three members of the House of Representatives who have backed launching an impeachment inquiry.

Representative Debbie Mucarsel-Powell of Florida came out in favor of an impeachment inquiry on June 21, posting a news release online and announcing her decision on Twitter. One week later, Steyer donated the maximum $5,600 to her campaign.

New Jersey representative Tom Malinowski came out in favor of an impeachment inquiry in late May, as reported by NBC News. Days before the fundraising quarter closed, Steyer and his wife, Kat Taylor, each contributed the maximum amount of $5,600 to Malinowski’s campaign.

Despite the enthusiasm from Steyer, recent polling by the National Republican Congressional Committee in Malinowski’s district shows roughly 60 percent of local voters oppose impeachment. READ.

Rep. Horn Accused Of Breaking Campaign Promise, Taking Corporate PAC Money

OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma’s sole Democrat in Congress, Rep. Kendra Horn, is being criticized by the Republican Party’s congressional campaign arm accusing the Oklahoma City Congresswoman of breaking a 2018 campaign promise about campaign donations.

In a release late last week, National Republican Congressional Committee said Horn broke a promise not to accept money from corporate political action committees. As defined by federal standards, corporate PACs take money from employees of a company and give that money to a candidate on behalf of that company. The NRCC claims Horn has accepted nearly $100,000 in corporate PAC money.

“Kendra Horn lied to get elected and is a shameless hypocrite,” NRCC Spokesperson Bob Salera wrote. READ.

Mucarsel-Powell abandons centrist positions, veers hard left

Freshman Rep. Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) helped Democrats win back control of the U.S. House of Representatives during the 2018 midterm elections by narrowly defeating incumbent Republican Congressman Carlos Curbelo.

In the end, Mucarsel-Powell, who ran on a moderate, anti-Trump platform, received 50.7 percent of the vote, while Curbelo, who also took jabs at President Trump, received 49.4 percent of the vote.

Now Rep. Mucarsel-Powell appears to have set aside her “centrist” position and has aligned herself with “The Squad” or as Sen. Marco Rubio (R) calls them, the “radical” and “anti-Semitic” wing of the Democratic Party.

Mucarsel-Powell is lock-step with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s “Green New Deal” and supports a single-payer healthcare system, even though she opposes the progressive “Medicare for All” measure.

The freshman congresswoman is also on board with impeaching President Trump, joining the group of socialist Democrats in the House who are pushing for impeachment proceedings to be initiated against the president. READ.

Siding with Washington’s far left, Lauren Underwood has placed a big one-and-done target on her own back

Just seven months in office, U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL 14) already has a small army of Republican challengers lining up to take her on in the 14th congressional district in 2020. The high interest in the seat by the GOP is in part predictable. The freshman Democrat represents a traditionally Republican district, one that went for President Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton in 2016. Trump, of course, will be running again when Underwood is up for re-election in 2020.

But the Naperville native, who defeated four-term Republican Randy Hultgren in a midterm blue wave, may have also elevated GOP chances to recapture the seat by associating with far left members of the House. Underwood recently became a member of “The Squad,” a group of socialists who are giving their own Democratic Caucus fits over their provocative statements on immigration and extreme positions, such as outlawing private health care insurance. One member of the club, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, has said that Americans should be more fearful of white men than jihadist terrorism.

Underwood recently doubled down on joining up with her like-minded colleagues.

“The women, progressive women who are so boldly speaking out, we’re not going anywhere,” she said in a July 23 MSNBC interview.

National Journal’s political editor, Josh Kraushaar, pointed out in Twitter post that the statement was doubly bold for her to make.

“Underwood, unlike the Squad, represents a district Trump won (by 4 pts),” he tweeted. READ.
