ICYMI: Non-local Democrats run in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District

July 23, 2025

A new report is highlighting that “three non-local Democrats” are running in the messy, expensive race to the left primary in Michigan’s 7th congressional district.

Bridget Brink bought a house in Lansing just a couple months ago, Matt Maasdam lives in Ann Arbor, and Josh Cowen has bounced from town to town.

All of these non-local and out of touch Democrats are set for a messy, expensive primary as there are currently six announced candidates.

Reminder: Congressman Tom Barrett raised over $1 million in Q2 with a cash reserve of nearly $1.5 million which is more than all his Democrat opponents combined.

“Out of touch. Out of town. That’s the story of Democrats running in the messy primary in Michigan’s 7th congressional district. Michigan voters will reject whichever far-left, out of touch and out of town Democrat candidate emerges from the race to the left primary.” – NRCC spokesman Zach Bannon
