Florida Moms and Kids Left Behind by Darren Soto’s Shutdown Vote

October 2, 2025

Out of touch Democrat Darren Soto shut down the government, turning his back on moms, dads, and Floridians trying to feed their families.

By forcing a shutdown, Soto jeopardized funding for food stamps and other food assistance programs, like WIC and SNAP, making it harder for Floridians to put food on the table and support their families.

Bottom Line: 3,391,805 Floridians could be going hungry because of Darren Soto’s vote.

“Democrat Darren Soto chose chaos over common sense. Soto’s shutdown means moms, dads, and their babies who depend on food stamps are left wondering how they’ll get their next meal. Families can’t afford Soto’s political games.” – NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O’Toole
