Democratic U.S. Rep. Greg Landsman is taking heat from all sides.
First, state lawmakers’ new congressional district maps put Landsman, who was elected to the U.S. House in 2022, in a Republican-leaning district. Now, federal Republicans say the Cincinnati-area congressman is out of touch for voting against the continuing resolution that the House passed, which is now languishing in the Senate.
The National Republican Congressional Committee notes that Landsman has received contributions from several air groups, including at least $16,500 from the Air Line Pilots Association PAC, $15,000 from the National Air Traffic Controllers Association PAC, and $3,000 from the FAA Managers Association Inc. PAC.
“Out of touch Democrat Greg Landsman cashed checks from aviation workers and ran in the opposite direction by shutting down the government and cutting off their paychecks,” NRCC Spokesman Zach Bannon tells Ohio.News in a statement. “Ohioans won’t forget how Landsman put politics before public safety.”
With the Democratic-led government shutdown, the nation is on the verge of travel chaos as the FAA is poised to ground thousands of flights.
Air traffic controllers, who are missing paychecks, are calling in sick in greater numbers. Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International is among 40 airports nationwide that could see flight reductions.

Airlines and various trade groups, including the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, have publicly called for the immediate reopening of the federal government. According to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association’s website, “the shutdown threatens the NAS and negatively affects approximately 10 million aviation-related jobs and the $1.5 trillion annually that aviation contributes to the U.S. economy.”
Airports and the Transportation Security Administration have also alerted passengers, asking them to be patient as wait times continue to grow across the country while its officers work without pay.
