‘Pathetic And Destructive’: Florida GOP Unloads On Soto, Moskowitz Over Energy Vote

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) launched a blistering attack against U.S. Representatives Darren Soto and Jared Moskowitz this week, accusing the two Democrats of prioritizing Washington party loyalty over the financial stability of Florida households.

The condemnation follows a contentious vote in the nation’s capital regarding legislation aimed at lowering energy costs. State Republicans argue that by voting against the measure, Soto and Moskowitz effectively blocked relief for constituents still grappling with inflation.

In a statement issued by the party, the GOP drew a sharp contrast between the proposed Republican energy plan and the economic track record of the previous administration. Citing data that shows energy prices surged nearly 30% under President Joe Biden—a rate 13 times faster than the pre-2021 era—the RPOF characterized the current economic environment as a lingering “disaster” that families are still paying for.

“Floridians are still suffering from Biden’s energy mess, and Soto and Moskowitz just doubled down on it,” Power said. “They had a chance to lower costs and help the people they claim to represent, and instead selfishly chose partisan loyalty. It’s pathetic, it’s destructive, and Floridians won’t forget who stood with them and who sold them out next November.”

Representatives Soto and Moskowitz have not yet issued a formal rebuttal to the RPOF’s specific claims regarding the vote.
