House Democrats are slipping before they ever had a hold

March 3, 2026

A new Harvard/Harris poll shows the generic congressional ballot is tied at 50%–50%. Democrats’ once-assumed edge has completely evaporated.

At this point in 2018, Democrats held roughly a D+10 advantage. Today? It’s a dead heat.

This is just the latest warning sign for House Democrats, who are quickly losing their grip as they wrestle amongst themselves in their trainwreck primaries, get embarrassed in the fundraising race, and face a sour brand that continues to sink.

“Democrats are slipping before they ever had a hold. The momentum is with House Republicans, and we’re just getting started.” – NRCC Spokesman Mike Marinella
