Bohannan’s Plan to Defund the Police

May 12, 2026

As Americans honor the brave men and women who wear the badge during National Police Week, don’t forget Christina Bohannan’s record of undermining law enforcement:

  • As Chair of the University  of Iowa College of Law’s DEI Committee, Bohannan encouraged donations to groups that support abolishing cash bail, prisons, and the police and referred to police as the “country’s largest, state-sanctioned gang.”
  • In 2020, Bohannan opposed Iowa’s Back the Blue law, dismissing it as “dangerous and disturbing.”
  • Bohannan is bankrolled by notorious defund the police billionaire Liz Simons.

Bohannan has repeatedly chosen to stand with the far left instead of the men and women who put on the badge.

“During National Police Week, Iowans are honoring the heroes who keep our communities safe, but Christina Bohannan has spent her career attacking and undermining law enforcement. Bohannan’s dangerous, anti-police agenda is completely out of step with Iowa families who proudly Back the Blue.”  – NRCC Spokeswoman Emily Tuttle
