NRCC Releases Battleground Polling in OH-09
WASHINGTON, D.C. – For the first time this cycle, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) publicly released internal battleground polling in OH-09, offering an early snapshot of a favorable national political landscape for House Republicans and the growing problems confronting vulnerable House Democrats.
The NRCC surveyed likely general election voters in OH-09:
- Republican Derek Merrin leads Democrat Marcy Kaptur by 4 points, 47% to 43%, with only 7% undecided.
- Undecided voters are showing signs that they are much more likely to vote Republican as 67% disapprove of Kaptur and they prefer to vote Republican by a better than two to one margin.
- Kaptur begins the race with significant negatives as 42% already disapprove of the job she has been doing even before the general election campaign has begun.
| “These numbers prove exactly what we’ve been saying all along: Ohioans in the Ninth Congressional District are ready for change, and Derek Merrin is poised to flip this seat red in November.” – NRCC Spokesman Zach Bannon Background:The polling reflects the NRCC’s aggressive early investment in expanding the House map and going on offense in districts that will determine control of Congress. Releasing district-level data at this stage of the cycle, the NRCC is signaling confidence in the battlefield and highlighting the strong position Republicans hold in key battlegrounds nationwide. |
