Conley, who is in a hotly contested race against Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, allegedly used money raised by a joint fundraising committee working with the House Democrats’ super PAC for broadcast ad buys.

The GOP complaint, filed by state Republican Chair Ed Cox, alleges that using the money for TV spots violates a 2024 Federal Election Commission ruling stipulating that while joint fundraising committees can work with super PACs, the arrangement is limited to fundraising invites and events.

“Cait Conley clearly lied to voters about not accepting corporate PAC money and even appears to have violated federal law,” said National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Maureen O’Toole. “Hudson Valley voters see right through her and will send Conley back home to Virginia in November.”
