Tricky Nick Rahall’s Cap-and-Trade Love Day 4

We’re on Day 4 of highlighting Tricky Nick Rahall’s cap-and-trade support. Check out the first three installments here, here, and here.

Today’s installment focuses on a speech Rahall made supporting Nancy Pelosi’s plan for cap-and-trade.

• “Pelosi told reporters April 1 [2008] that she hopes to push a plan this year to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through a market-based emissions cap-and-trade program…” (Congress Daily, 4/9/08).

• A month later Rahall spoke about Pelosi’s plan saying of cap-and-trade” “We nibbled at it last year and passed one of the first six pieces of the new Congress, H.R. 6 [see #2 above] that sought to recapture some of the subsidies that previous congresses had given the oil industry…We’re still seeking to capture a lot of that income…And there’s still money left from that that would, should go toward addressing a true global climate bill that the Speaker still wants to bring up.” (Rahall speech, 8:17-8:31…8:49-8:51…9:06-9:13, City Club of Cleveland, 5/23/08)

Please keep this in mind next time Rahall tries to claim he is against cap-and-trade.
