Barack Obama Campaigns Across U.S. Ahead Of Primaries

Nick Rahall is going out of his way to convince West Virginia voters that he is against Barack Obama’s cap-and-trade program. Well, it’s time for Rahall to start explaining his own record, which definitively contradicts what he is saying to voters and the media.

Here are 9 points he needs to explain NOW:

  1. Why did Rahall think Barack Obama was pro-coal in 2008 when it was clear to anyone paying attention that Obama wanted to bankrupt the coal industry?
  1. If Rahall campaigned for Obama in 2008 because he thought he was “pro-coal,” what’s his explanation for endorsing Obama in 2012? Party loyalty over loyalty to his state?
  1. Why did Rahall vote for the Carbon Tax? –> http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2013/roll085.xml
  1. Why did Rahall vote for HR 2643 (2007), a bill that endorses a cap-and-trade system? –> http://www.nrcc.org/2014/05/05/tricky-nick-rahalls-cap-trade-love-day-1/
  1. Why did Rahall support Obama’s cap-and-trade system in 2009? –> http://www.nrcc.org/2014/05/06/tricky-nick-rahalls-cap-trade-love-day-2/
  1. Why did Rahall vote for Obama’s 2009 cap-and-trade budget? –> http://www.nrcc.org/2014/05/07/tricky-nick-rahalls-cap-trade-love-day-3/
  1. Why did Rahall support Nancy Pelosi’s plan for cap-and-trade? –> http://www.nrcc.org/2014/05/08/tricky-nick-rahalls-cap-trade-love-day-4/
  1. Why did Rahall vote to establish and fund greenhouse gas reporting under the EPA – a major part of cap-and-trade? –> http://www.nrcc.org/2014/05/09/day-5-tricky-nick-rahalls-cap-trade-love/
  1. Why did Rahall vote against Senator Joe Manchin’s bill to give Congress the power to reject EPA regulations? –> http://clerk.house.gov/evs/2011/roll901.xml

NRCC Comment: “If Nick Rahall wants to talk about President Obama’s coal killing cap-and-trade rule, then it’s time for Rahall to finally be held accountable and explain his repeated support for Obama’s attempts to cap carbon emissions and bankrupt the coal industry. Whether it’s his support for various cap-and-trade proposals or his vote for a carbon tax, Rahall has been slyly selling out West Virginia for far too long and it’s well past time that he is forced to explain himself.”– NRCC Spokesman Ian Prior
